I've just completed downloading the the new updates for Real Drums and Real Tracks. My set-up is program on my MacBook Pro with RD's and RT's on an external hard drive. When I attempt to install the updates, choosing the install to the external drive I receive a message that I can't do that because BiaB isn't installed there. I worked around the RD's by copying the RD folder over to the Apps folder on the MBP, updating it and copying it back to the external hard drive. However, I can't do that with the RT's because it's to large to fit on the MBP. Am I missing something here? I also just bought the summer pack and I'm about to start DLing that. Am I going to have the same problem?

I've kinda solved my own problem. It's apparent you can only install the updates and what-not on the original BiaB drive. That's okay, just a pain, since that little drive is much to small for anything but the program files. I use 2 half TB drives for music production (going from BiaB, to Logic and so on). It would be so much less time consuming to be able to update and such to the production drives rather that do it all to the little drive then spend a couple of hours copying the RT and RD folders to the other drives. Oh, well, still love the program--even with the quirks...

Yes, you can do this. What you need to do in this case is to click the [Customize] button. That will toggle you from "Simple" to "Custom Installation" mode, where you can choose the specific locations of your RealTracks and Drums folders. Files that belong in the Band-in-a-Box folder will be installed there on the main volume you selected, while the RealTracks audio files and Drums updates will be installed to the custom location.

Hi there!
I have kind of the same problem. But I can't see any [Customize] button. Where is that? The last step I see is the one with the drives and both show the red stop sign icon. Now what?

Hello elmar,
It seems that the installer .app sometimes doesn't display the customize button for some unknown reason. What OS do you have? Try rebooting your computer, and run the setup again. If all else fails you could simply let it install the files to /Band-in-a-Box/RealTracks folder, and then copy them to your custom folder when finished the install. The only files you would need to copy are in the Drums and RealTracks folders.

Band-in-a-Box should work find on an Intel Mac with OS 10.4. But I do recall there being an problem with the customize button on that OS. It's possible that OS 10.4 didn't fully support the customize button.
