Any you country foke out there have this song in BB or midi format? It's a Roy Clark song of the late 60s or early 70s. I need to sing it at a going away party for a friend of mine. Thanks in advance. If you have it and care to share, send it via email hdw493407@yahoo.com, or tell me where to find it. Thanks again.

David,

This tune is pretty "vanilla" should not take more then 10 - 15 minutes or so to arrange in BIAB. In fact I'll check to see if I have it in an older folder somewhere.

Thanks Guys,
I have the lyrics and I think it is in 3/4 time. What I'm trying to do is immulate Roy's version when he was playing at Billy Bobs here in Texas and on his CD. He has a little Floyd Cramer piano all throughout the song and I have a piano player who can do that part. I just want to make sure all the chords and timing is correct, and yes it is pretty simple to lay down in BB. What I normally do when I make a CD, is take the piano version from sheet music, notate it into midi format and import it into BB. I then save it as a midi file and bring it into Real Band or PT and do my editing there. Normally, the sheet music gives me a good idea of the flow of the song and somewhat what the bass player is supposed to be doing. Thanks to you guys, I will probably buy the Country Classics or Country Favorites song book which includes this song to finish my CD.

Just a quick update;
I bought the book, wrote the song in Music Time Delexe, created a midi file out of that and imported it into Real Band where I added a resonator and steel guitar and real drums. Not bad for the two hours I put into it. Made a CD for my friend and he used it as a sing-a-long for the going-away party for his neighbor. That's one of the reasons I get the update every year at Christmas time. Thanks Peter for a great piece of software. Amatures like me need people like you.

David,

It sounds like you could use my BIAB instructional DVD. It's geared toward country music. Check it out at:

Band In A Bolx Made Easy

It teaches you how to do the tempo and style changes within the song needed for songs like "Thank God And Greyhound"

The introductory price of $20 ends at the end of the month. It comes with a money back guarantee.

Rick

Went to your site and checked out some of your examples of tunes on your cd's. Basic question, how much of the cds are biab and how much studio recordings of live musicians?

On the CD's you listened to, I used BIAB for drums, and most piano rhythms. I played all the other instruments myself. I didn't use Real Tracks, but with them you can get something really nice for practice and accompainment. The DVD is basically for teaching beginners how to do bracking tracks. I sold a lot to steel guitar players. It does include some tricks that I've picked up through the years that save a lot of time. Sounds like you've got it figured out. Just so you're having fun, that's what really counts. I'm sure your friend at the party will be proud of your performance.

Hey Rick,
Looked up your web site and found out you are living in Knoxville Tennessee. Looks like we could of been neighbors at one time. I was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky, about 60 miles northwest of Knoxville and have lots of cousins in Knoxville. I now reside in Austin Texas. Anyway, thank you for your coments about the song. I will order the CD, couldn't hurt. Been doing this since version 6, but sparatically, so I probably could use some help. I'm mainly interested in tips on splicing in real tracks using different tempos. I always use a midi file created in Music Time Deluxe to start most projects I create. I use this as a base, so I know what the writer's original thoughts were when he/she created the song.

Hey David,

I grew up in Hancock County, TN. I lived in Pineville, KY for about four years and in Harrogate for about eight years. I was a flight instructor at Middlesboro and Tazewell airports for a long time. I have a lot of good friends in Middlesboro. Go up there on business ocassionally. I'm an engineer and work with the mining industry all over the world, and a lot of this is coal mining. Small world.
