Hi,
I bought just yesterday BiaB 2010 version for Mac (MegaPAK) to practice some Real Book Standards using Real Tracks (not MIDI due to its quality ...). Do I have to manually enter all the chord changes for each standard from the Real Book and than select real tracks or there is an easier way of importing the whole chord structure of any standard? I know that in internet there are available files (MIDI?, MG?) with Real Book standards which can be imported to BiaB. However is there any possibility to use the chords from those files for selection of the Real Tracks? This would save time entering each chord ...
Many thanx for advice!
Pawel
P.S. what is the difference between MG and MIDI file (the complete set of songs from the Real Book I have is in MG format)

Yes, there is plenty of books on the internet, with thousands of standards and other tunes in Biab format, such as .mgu .mgx .mg1 etc. Just type "biab real book" on google as a starting point, or check among the yahoo groups. Usually the files contain chords and melody or chords only, so all you have to do is to select a style with real tracks for the tunes you want to practice along. Midi files are something different, although they can be opened with Biab.

There are plenty of Fake Disks already done for you here: http://www.nortonmusic.com/fake.htmlAdmittedly it is something you can do yourself, but there is probably close to a thousand hours of work in each book, it's a time saver. BTW, MIDI does not have poor quality. MIDI is a set of instructions for your synthesizer. MIDI has no sound, it just tells your synth what sounds to use, when to use them, and how to ornament them. There are high quality synthesizers and low quality synthesizers. The one in your computer's sound card is a low quality synthesizer. Insights and incites by Notes ♫

There can be a great number of possible MIDI tracks/arrangements for any given song, so it might be to your advantage to look around for other versions of standards IF you don't like what you find with norton. However, it's pretty likely you're going to like what you find...on the flip side, you can always edit a few things in MIDI if you want to put your own signature on it.

Hi W,
In future please start your own thread if you have a question different from the original topic of the thread that you're posting in.
To answer your question, yes. Also BB2010 can analyze the chords in a MIDI file so you can later apply RealTracks to it.
