Huh?
First off, the space requirements for a iPad/iPhone app would be insane. Also the processor usage would be as well (with realtracks).....hence why PGMusic dropped Intel (?).
A midi only version? Naw.....after being spoiled by RealTracks, I can't go back to GM Midi sounds.

John, have you used the ios app ? Am I correct in assuming that it is just a kind of remote control for BIAB running on a full fledged home PC. Does BIAB have to be running, or does the server app take care of launching and quitting BIAB ? Also can styles and such be previewed on the remote app before you build a song, to be sent back to the remote app ? Sorry, a lot of questions, I know. - Jay

I don't have it...
Ahh, thanks. I reckon if Santa brings me that iPad for XMas, I'll just have to wait for the Mac version.

I was excited when I saw this post, but disappointed when I saw it was for PC only?! WEIRD that an apple platform like iphone will only integrate into the PC version of BIAB!
Hopefully mac support will come soon...

You need to have the server running on the PC you are connecting to. You name your server and protect it with a password. And know the IP of that computer before you go setting up the mobile app.
BIAB is WAY too big to natively install onto a smart mobile device. Where would you store the sound samples? And the mobile doesn't have anywhere close to the CPU power required to do all those calculations.
Some things to remember that I am sure most, if not all, musicians know. Your synthesizers and samplers are not "true" instruments. They are computers that can be configured to imitate and replicate "true" instruments. The best Bosendorfer piano sample does not have hammers and wires. It is an amazingly accurate electronic reproduction. The strings in my ESQ-1 are beautiful, but it is a series of digital oscillators, filters and amplifiers that make it, not a bow drawn across cat gut strings.
I said that to say this. We need to keep in mind what BIAB is. It is an amazing collection of samples, rhythm tracks and textures that through exquisite programming can be configured to play what you want it to play. While it will "play" for you, the ideas need to come from you. The smart phone "i-devices" don't have the storage or CPU power to actually run it, but it CAN control it. The files you create get converted to a format your i- will be able to play, and you can preview everything on the phone. You actually save it on the BB2GO server, but it is essentially like sitting in front of the computer.
I use the iPad version when I am too lazy to get my fat ass off my couch and want to scratch pad an idea, and it works extremely well. The server side takes maybe 5 minutes to set up, getting used to the transport process on the remote will take you 5 more. Well written, beautiful stuff. You will find what you need on the server side in a folder called BB2GO. From there you are off and running.

You could make at autonomous app for the iPhone and iPad 2. You would need compressed, smaller versions of the real tracks I would think. I would imagine It would work. There's another app called "iReal book" that is almost exactly like BIAB but has/had all the usual Realbook jazz tunes. ( I used 'has/had', as they pulled the original tunes due to inevitable copyright issues, but you can get them, and if you are an original owner of the app, you still have them) the point is; this proves it's doable. Of course iRealbook is limited, and that's what a realtime version of BIAB on this platform would most likely need to be. Frankly this whole server thing is too much of a hassle for me. You mentioned being lazy. You haven't seen nothin
