I am an experienced user but with the expansion of BIAB i find myself spending way too much time auditioning various style or tracks. It seems like there should be a simple way to select by time signature, tempo, real or midi, genre etc to quickly narrow down the choices. As an experienced database user I know this is not hard to do. I may be missing some basic techniques that I have not yet discovered. What is the best way to this? I notice the same probelm with other products like Easy Drummer - why not start off with the basic time signature?

I've found the new FAVOURITE STYLES folder to be a great help. I've loaded about a dozen styles in there, and one of them does the trick for most of the songs I play. Not the complete answer to your question, but it will certainly help if you're not already using it.

The Style Picker Category has a few of those. Do you know about the dropdowns in the Style Picker? The 'Show Style by Feel and Tempo' is very handy. Below that is a dropdown to show only Midi, Real, or both styles. Once your feel and tempo are set, these can really help narrow down choices.
Personally I have about 5 customized styles that I use in all my songs contained in My Favorites. Getting to that point was tedious as I had to audition as you described. By using the dropdowns, it made it a bit easier. Something I discovered is the tempo range of the style often works just fine outside of that range. I guess with RD/RT tempo swapping the suggested tempos are not applicable. But even with some Midi/RD styles, outside of that range works fine. Keep that in mind.

Hi Mike,
From what I have read of your work in previous posts, I think you have been using the "Style Picker" but you might not have been aware of its name. It is simply the style selection window that opens when you click on "Style" on the far left side of the screen, by the song title (Chord View mode). If you want to find out more about it, start up BIAB "Help" and under the "Index" tab, type in "Style Selection".

All of the replies have been helpful so far. I am specifically looking for a great 12/8 style and or tracks. What is the best way to find 12/8 time signatures?

Open the stylepicker
Click on the "Search" button.
Type in "12/8"
Then page through the selections using the "G" button, next to the "Search" button.

In the StylePicker, scroll down in the Category section. There is a line for '6/4, 6/8, 9/8, 12/8' styles.
