Why is it taking at least 5mins to load in my track from biab to rb when the tutorial seems to do it in a flash could it be my computer? Thanks Frankie

When I transfer all BIAB tracks via D&D into Reaper is does take a minute plus (..no where near 5) - but it is well worth the wait.

You should be able to see the progress as the buttons for each instrument change color.

Ok... system Windows xp Home Edition AMD Athlon1800+ 1.5gb ram 80 gb hard drive free space 21gb.Ive got the ultraplus pack.Hope this is enough info Thanks Frank

I'm betting the system used for the tutorial was a bit more robust.
More RAM, bigger drive with more free space, and probably newer multi-core processor.
With both programs open to to D&D I'm thinking your system may be working hard.

Hi Frankie,
I just tried drag 'n' drop on my system. The fastest speed that I attained was when I had generated the song and then "frozen" the track in BIAB. It took a little while but nowhere near 5 minutes. To be honest, I rarely use drag 'n' drop as I prefer to simply open the BIAB file directly into RB and work from there.

Thanks Rharv&Noel. Rharv..I thought my computer might need up grading so thats my next step. Noel youve mentioned this before using rb to import from biab but will I be able to edit each track?.I will take a look at the tutorial for advice on this.Thanks to both of you for the latest input will let you know how I get on.Thanks Frankie

Hi Frankie,
Yep. Simply go to RB, navigate to the BIAB file and open it in RB. You'll need to wait for a couple of minutes while RB generates the tracks. Each BIAB instrument is put on its own individual track.

I had this issue during testing and it still exists and still don't know why. Here's my situation. This is for taking a BIAB tune and loading it into Sonar or any other program as all audio.
1. Set the D&D to do all separate tracks and all audio.
2. Drag it over
3. Takes a whopping 20 minutes
Now instead take the same Biab and we'll do it the old way:
1. Use the old render method into a folder
2. Lasoo all the files
3. Copy them
4. paste them into the other program
5. I can do the COMPLETE process, Items 1-4, in about 1.5 minutes or less.
Same song, same destination, same computer, same results.

I don't have exact times but using the plug in for drag and drop is painfully slow on my old XP system...but the old method of exporting and copying is easily 10 times faster. Why?
Now that I have read this post I will only use the drag and drop methods for blazing fast midi tracks. Since there is a huge diference I suspect the plug in method needs some fine tuning.
Those of you with faster and newer machines may not care but I see no logical reason for this diference and hope to see an update for this otherwise cool feature.
I would do a poll on this if I knew how.

Yeah.
I forget which version / patch it was but Dragging speed was greatly improved recently.
Also depends how long the song is.
As was said - watch the progress.
If the percentages are moving - you're good.
If not - ya got a problem.
