BIAB will sometimes jazz up or down chords depending on the style. I'm thinking MIDI here. So a bebop style will take a specified seventh chord and flat the ninth for you without hesitation. It also seems that when (I may be wrong here) specifying like an altered chord and using a more folk or Celtic style, it ignores some extended or altered chord notes. This is all great - this is what BIAB does.

But sometimes I just what to see what BIAB is thinking before it jazzes up or down my chord - so I often watch the BIAB keyboard to get that insight. The best way I have found is to to use the pnosimp4 style which just plays (in the piano part) the chord notes for a duration equal to that of the chord (like whole or half or quater notes). And nothing else. This is great - Just what I want! BUT it plays the root in the guitar part and not in the piano part. So in looking at the keyboard, I can't see the whole thing.

So my wish is for a new style in which all specified chord tones just drone for the chord duration, and all chord tones are in the piano part. And I'd make them in root position. A C13#11 would be, in this order - C E G Bb D F# A. Adding base, drums, etc. is optional.

If you are familiar with PG's chord dictionary app, there you can select a chord and it offers various voicings. Clicking on the "This chord contains" box the chord tones are played in root position just like I am suggesting.

Are you familiar with the sw44held and heldbosa styles? These are listed under Utility and are from styles disk#58.

They were written almost ten years ago at my request to give us held chords (along with a swing or bossa drum rhythm), so we could study the chords.

Yes, Matt. As I replied in another forum - "Close, but no cigar. The "rhythm" of the piano parts is what I'm looking for, but both styles don't play all chord tones in the piano part. For example, the piano part of an A7b9 does not play the A (but the base part does)."

Yes - That was me, and you suggested that I put in a request in this forum. And I find it is always good to take your suggestions.
