Hello to friends old and new. It's been a long time since I have put anything on line. I have been playing a few gigs and trying to work on performing locally and live with some success and leaning new things always along the way. Also realizing that it takes a lot of energy and friends to keep moving forward.

So this is part of a group of songs I'm recording to make a demo to represent my vintage blues performance. Hope you like it. Please share any comments on performance or recording or just a note to say hi - hope to hear from you.

This is a cover song and no BIAB input was used so I guess it's okay to post here???

Pete

Hi Pete,

Excellent work. I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm very impressed with the quality of both the recording and performance. Man alive, that guitar sounds like it's fixin' to pop straight out of my speakers. lol. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

Jim

I'd be completely happy if I had just one more guitar.

Hi Pete

Man I do like listening to you do these vintage blues tunes.
Is this a "live" recording? Or did you overdub the voice later - sounds "live" to me and that's a good thing.
You used standard tuning - open E?. Flatpicked?

I haven't explored your site yet but does that +33 mean you have 33 of these tunes posted?

Good stuff, glad you're finding some venues.

Ian

Hey Pete:

Sounds great! Your gigging is clearly paying off -- that's what it takes. The timing and articulation are much better than they were last year (do I mean you sound more convincingly black?)

Keep on keepin' on,
Daisy.

That's that National Steel guitar. That was the first amplified sound for guitar - the resonator. It really pops the sound. I think it gives an old timey sound on the right songs, - some I wouldn't use it on. Thanks Jim111 - appreciated!

Hi Ian!

Yeah, it's a live recording. As live as I can get as I approach 65. Thats just a standard EADGBE tuning (actually DGCFAD and capoed at the second fret), fingerpicked and using a plastic thumb pick. I'm lucky my fingernails hold up to the abuse. Yes 33 means there are 33 tunes on my Soundclick site most are blues and some are country. Thanks and I hope this finds you well up in the northland!

Danny ! I was wondering if you were still there, good to hear from ya!
I had a regular gig playing at the marina, but it's playing outside and too cold
now. I was amazed I had enough material to do 2 1/2 to 3 hrs.

Hi Daisy!

I spent a lot of listening time on the original recording by Charlie Jordon. He has a bit of a unique timing in his playing style and this song in particular. I'm sure I pick up little bits of dialect - to me it doesn't sound right in the King's English. And I grew up in the boondocks anyway. Yes, the thought of playing for a fairly large group of people turbocharged my practice sessions. So I picked up some tempo too. thanks.
