I have a song with several "pushed" chords. I am using the fingerpicking 85 RT guitar. When played in BB 2008.5 it sounds great. However when I play the same song in 20010.5 the fingerpicking guitar all the sudden gives an out of place strum pather then "pushed" fingerpicking.

I also don't need a cymbal hit at the push.

Is there some way to tell the 2010.5 program not to do these type of "pushes"?

Thanks,
Robb

Hi Rob,

I might be wrong here, but my understanding is that shots, rests, pushes and holds are a work in progress when it comes to Realtracks. Midi is not problem. Realtracks, however, are snippets of wav files and so the process of articulation becomes a little more difficult. It might be worth sending PGMusic support a question about this. Who knows, maybe Andrew will see this post and respond.

Regards,
Noel

Yes, for the song in question, press the Song Settings button (or menu Edit-Song Settings) and set Allow RealTracks Holds and Pushes to false (for that song). That would disable all instruments for RealTracks pushes/holds in that song, if you just want to disable one, you could freeze the tracks first, and then turn the feature off and just generate that one track.

Thanks Peter! That did the trick.

I didn't try to un-tick that box because I wanted the push. With the way it is worded I figured by unchecking that, the measure would play straight. Not the case however; it sounds perfect.

Thanks again,
Robb

I was working on a tune the other day and had this same issue. I wanted to kill my computer.
So with the box unchecked it still does the push correcty.

The RDs still do that weird fill at the push.

Yes, the chord change is pushed but it doesn't change to a strum (which sounded awkward at best).

The song in question used the JazzBrushes RDs. There was no noticable fill after unchecking the box. Ticking the box caused an unwanted cymbal hit though.

OK, the cymbal hit is what the drummer does for the push.

Good luck with trying to get pgmusic to understand and properly program pushes with Real Drums. When Real Drums first came out, I had no trouble whatsoever with pushes. Then, in either a 2008 or 2009 upgrade I think it was, everything changed. Suddenly, every push came with a crash cymbal!! I went to support multiple times to complain about the destruction of the push option. I got no satisfaction whatsoever. Ultimately, I had to go through all of my songs and delete the pushes, a time consuming process. I used to upgrade every time a new one was offered, but I haven't upgraded since the push problem as well as other problems that seemed to arrive with upgrades after 2008. My impression is that Pgmusic rushes stuff into production and sale before it has been properly tested, relying on dissatisfied customers to tell them what the problems are. I am one dissatisfied customer they will not get back until I sense that the company has reverted to the reliablity it once had.

Dancehall, but tell us what you really think.

Sorry to hear you have had so much trouble. There does seem to be a new wave of folks trying to get "note for note" renditions out of BIAB. IMO this is not that the program was ever ment to do - even when it was only MIDI. The styles which are at the core of the application impose variations. That is by design. And of course the new RT are all about various rhythms and leads from real musicians.

BIAB is a tool (..meant in a good way) which does what it does. You as the musician need to use it creatively and then create around it. Or you need to pull in another tool. For example BIAB can be a great starting point - then move to RB to tweak and fine tune - then move to a DAW to modify the sounds using a whole host of tools.

For recoding purposes If I don't link a cymbal hit at a certain place I simply delete it in the final mix over in my DAW. And for live play using BIAB as a backing, I don't really mind what the drummer does as long as he plays in time. But thats me.

Just one mans opinion.
