I just installed the sfz soundfont player for use in RB. I have found some really good guitar sounds which I need. While everything seems to work correctly there's a minor problem.
It seems everytime I hit the play button in RB the chosen program in sfz changes to the default value of the track. For example, I have a midi track using program 7, clavinet, in the default VSC DXi. When I change to the sfz and select program 5, funky guitar wah, with the song playing the voice changes correctly. If I stop and restart the song the track changes back to program 7 again and consequently uses the wrong voice from the soundfont.
Is RB sending a program change command on play? If so is there a way to stop it?

Need a little more info but I'll address 2 areas. If it's a MIDI file then use the "Event List" to strip away the program changes. If it's a BB type track using a style go to : prefs/7-song Generation & uncheck " style can change patches"

That might be it. It is a BB track. I'll give it a try later when I get home. Thanks.

Well I tried the prefs/7-song Generation & uncheck " style can change patches" and that didn't work. However I think you were on to something with your comments regarding being a BiaB song with a style.
I noticed when I save and then re-open the song all the track parameters go back to the BiaB settings. For example, even though I changed the track synth to the sfz player from the VSC DXi it reverts to the DXi. I guess it's supposed to do that as long as it is a BiaB song. A little counter intuitive perhaps but it makes a kind of sense.
So I'm guessing the track and program settings aren't saved either. And by extension I suppose clicking play resets the program as well.
I'll have to try it with a non-BiaB song/track and see.
Anyway, it's not a huge deal as I can still click record and change the program before any data is sent. That way I have an audio version of the track to use.
Thanks for the clue silvertones.

I think I understand now what you're doing. Leave that box unchecked but do not change patches with the SFZ player change patches with the RB menu. Then you save the song this way. Works here. Don't pay attention to what the SFZ screen says. It'll play multi timbrel. Now the SFZ+ is another animal. I've yet to figure that one out totally.

Thanks silvertones, that did it. There's a lot to learn about using soundfonts such as the load and save banks, the mode and quality etc. At least I've finally got a way to introduce really good midi guitars. That was the one thing I was missing.

You can also make yourself a .pat file for use in RB. If you're gonna play with fonts get yourself, it's free goole it, soundfont librarian. It lets you just open up a sondfont bank and D&D individual fonts to a new bank. Then open another bank D&D some more until your new bank is full. You could have a bank that's all guitars, make a .pat file for it and you're in like flyn. I did fonts for many, many years. Still use them for my kick drum then convert to audio.

Another great suggestion. Thanks again.

I am using SFZ in Biab and I can´t figure out how to delete a soundfont file from the list. Does anyone know how to do this? I have several in the file drop down box and they all seem to get loaded into memory. Thanks.

The *.sf2 files you see in the file drop down list are the recently used files. They aren't all loaded into memory. The are a convenience feature. If you simply click in the empty file box instead of using the drop down you get a file selection dialog where you can select a file.
Some files have more than on instrument voice/patch (called program in sfz) though, and I believe these are all loaded into memory.
