Hello,

I haven't posted for a while so hope everyone is good (well how can you not be with the release of the latest and greatest piece of software in the world biab 2011 )

Just a quick question while I wait for the 2011 drive to arrive I have downloaded the files realtracks 83-121 and installing them over my 2010 version.

Now I have a backup copy of biab as well on another drive on my computer and want to bring it up to 2011 the easiest and quickest way.

Can I just run the main band in a box install in the backup copy and then just delete the realtrack folder in the backup and copy the main 2011 realtrack folder that I have been updating over to the backup copy?

Thanks a lot
Paddy

The system that will be using 2011 needs the install.
It registers plugins, installs fonts etc.

Otherwise, I would wait until I have the new drive and copy that whole drive as a new backup. If you are getting a drive you should be getting all the realtracks on it, right? However, I would make sure everything runs good from the new original first. Some major changes come in this version. Some older machines may not like some of them.
Deleting existing realtracks folder is something I would personally wait on, just to be safe.

Thanks Rharv, probasbly the best idea that. I just checked the properties of the realtracks folder by right clicking on it size 97.8gb 97.9 gb on disk 73741 files 824 folders, does that sound about right for realtracks 2011 folder?

thanks

Hi Paddy,

The 97 GB suggests that you have those +/- files present that ver.2010 required. When these are deleted, your Realtrack folder will shrink considerably. My present RT folder is 30.2 GB (it used to be just over 100 GB).

If you have a look at Opt >> Preferences >> Realtracks, there's an option called "Use +/- Realtracks for generation". There's also a button called "Erase Un-Needed +/- Files". For the moment, keep the option unchecked and see how your system runs without using those extra RTs. If, after a couple of days, you're happy with your computer's performance, you can click on the "Erase Un-Needed +/- Files" button and delete the the extra RT files that are not being used.

Regards,
Noel

thanks for your reply Noel. I copied over the realtracks folder that I installed the realtracks into to my backup copy on another drive on my computer, but some of the realtracks are not playing on my backup copy. When I press rebuild in the realtracks dialog a box tells me that some of the r*, st2 and xt2 files are missing, where I do find them in the main biab folder?

Any help appreciated.

Paddy
