Somehow I've lost (or) lost track of that lil bugger...does it have anything to do with BIAB or is it some other program that BIAB update wants to see present and accounted for!?

Compatability with a OS?? I run XP on all computers...there are plenty of posts on google having to with this irascible dll so I would be greatful for an expanded reply, or, perhaps I should get on the phone with a PG techy.

Andrew: I meant to type GP5.DLL GP5.DLL HAS TO DO WITH GUITAR PRO-5!! GUESS THIS SCREWS UP PIRATES TRYING TO STEAL KEYS TO BIAB OR WITH GUITAR PRO-5 AS FAR AS I KNOW, I'M A GUITAR PRO....BUT DON'T USE WAREZ!!

Hi - yes, I understood you meant gp5.dll - this is a Band-in-a-Box file. However I still am not clear exactly what's happening. Do you get an error message? Which version of Band-in-a-Box do you have installed, and when do you get the error?

Actually, because my 2011 MEGAPAK HD was not initially installed correctly, I called one of the techs who was happy to sent me the download files via the internet. Except, they were for 2010.5...
Then, another of your techs told me she'd send the 2011 batch for download, and I did, and now I have a working Mega, but I left it all on my "C"...I'm sorta scared of messing with USB drive at this point. Ahh soo.....here's the rest of the story:
It seems like I went into the 2010.5 exe. by error with the first batch of downloadable files, and also after the second, correct files were sent to me...don't ask me why, except I'm a glutton for punishment, so again each instance of "can't execute the program" came with a gp5 missing report.
Now, my 2011 seems to be working fine since I downloaded, and this request for the dll is not there anymore.
Of course I'm curious about why this particular missing dll does pop up. It sure has quite a few theives bemoaning it's disagppearance...

When I try to install the 2011 Beta 313, I get this...missing GP5.dll
What gives when it still asks for GPPro.dll, even after I've successfully installed 2011 MegaPak?? Will this block me from updating this Beta (and other changes to BIAB 2011??

So, Andrew (Haven't heard from you since last year!)...
Since I've been stopped from upgrading to the Beta version of 2011 by that "silly" Guitar Pro DLL...how would you suggest I correct this ever-appearing error with all future upgrades??

GDaddy,
A couple of questions :
1) Where is your BiaB folder located on your harddrive ?
2) If you go to that folder with Windows Explorer, do you see the gp5.dll ?
(I have a gp3.dll at 515 KB, a gp4.dll at 1220 KB and a gp5.dll at 1.220 KB in my BiaB 2011 folder)
3) Are you logged in as an administrator when you receive these error messages ?
4) Is it perhaps possible, that you have more than one BiaB installation folder ? (I.e. and incomplete/failed installation somewhere ?)
Just stray thoughts so far, but I'll be glad to help !

The Band-in-a-Box build 313 update patch doesn't have any dialog in it that would mention GP5.dll, however the Band-in-a-Box program (bbw.exe) might give you an error about this file if it is missing. So the error is likely happening after you install the build 313 update patch, when you launch the program.
This means you are probably installing the patch to the wrong folder.
This doesn't have anything to do with Guitar Pro. There may well be other programs in existence that share some of the same file names as Band-in-a-Box files, but it's not relevant to your problem.

I hadn't installed 313 myself, until I saw it as a "final" release today and since doing so, I've seen the strangest "Access Violation .." related error messages I've ever seen from BiaB, so I'll revert to 312 and rest my case until further notice !
