*** I got it, my style list is back and restored. Please read below ***

Hi,

After update BIAB to 2011 from 2010.5 (UltraPlus PAK) I noted many of my previous style sets no longer appear in 2011 Style Picker in the same way like before, despite I Re-build the sytle list. I don't know if this is my particular problem or a functional consequence of the new streamlined re-designed Style Picker.
For the sake of information, after a full backup (my not to be missed security rule!) I applied the ultra plus 2011 update straight to my current 2010.5 c:\bb folder where all my midi/real styles, RT, RD and demos/song stuff are. After to be aware of the problem I tried a fresh install in a empty new c:\bb folder, but did not work.

The issue affect the previous RT styles sets, #83~101 are not listed, also old MIDI + RealDrums style sets and demo songs like for example sets #69 ~ 77 in my case (see the capture). IMPORTANT, I have to remark that many styles and its demo songs still listed now randomly spreaded somewhere in Style Picker folders, not to mention how annoying that is. Most of them don't have assigned the RealDrums as used to be in the previous Style Picker (2010.5) in a folder for each style set.

Thanks in advance for any ideas/clue about it.

Carlos

I include this capture of Style Picker 2010.5 with all sets perfectly listed.

Yes, I like it whereby one has the more detail like in the case of the listing of the RealTracks #83 Through #101 included in with what's listed in the 2011 list....as well as the list of regular styles as well.

it was my understanding that at every release, the newly added style sets get their own "special" display in the style picker (so we can find them and play with the easily?) and the older sets get merged into the standard categories. Otherwise the style display would get huge(er)

Is this different than that?

At least now, we can sort by the current or previous set number to get a comprehensive list of all styles in a given set. (which is basically what thew "special" display amounts to anyway.)

Yes, I also like the new style picker behave, certainly is important to simplify the list. I really like the improvement. But makes no sense that latest styles are not listed in their own spaces as the newest are and get merged anywhere in the picker.

Carlos,

I have found the same to be true. I actually went as far as doing a line-by-line compare of all of the style databases back to previous releases of BIAB (each time you do an update the old one gets saved in a backup folder). I *think* some careful combining of the files could restore those categories, but I have not tried it yet. If I do, I will send you a PM with a pointer to the file.

As someone else noted, I think PGMusic does it on purpose to keep the category list from growing forever, but I sure like having the categories listed too.

Yes, you right Dave, today a while ago I tried to edit and blend data from 2010.5 and 2011 sty catalog BBW files, maybe I was not very patient and all I got was a gibberished display of charachters in the Style Picker . It would be great if you get it working! I will look forward for your news. Thanks.

Well, I quoted myself because finally I got it, my style list is back and restored including my old sets. The only way to achieve it was by carefully editing of the BBW.LST file then REBUILD list in Style Picker. Fortunately I had a backup of the 2010.5 LST file. Maybe the reconstruction is not perfect because I missed some items, but it does work.

Carlos,

Can you briefly describe what you did? If it's too much trouble, no problem.

I particularly would like the opportunity to select specific RT sets (like #83 through #101) so I would like those to, again, appear for selection. I suspect if I opened the BBW.LST and checked it out, I'd get a feel for what to do, but I thought it would be best to hear from you first.

Thanks,
Cecil

Hi Cecil, not problem at all, I opened both, the BBW.LST file version 2010.5 of which fortunately I have backup and the current 2011 BBW.LST file. I use notepad but you can use your favorite text editor instead. Once there you will see first on top a serie of guidelines and tips about how add and designate categories and styles to the list, followed by a long serie of the styles list and descriptions strings, a huge one in my case. It is relatively easy to find the corresponding text lines of missing styles sets, then copy and paste in the target file. After that don't forget to rebuild the style picker list.

For a deepest modification can be better (and easier) to use a more advanced text/string editor of file compare utility. Hope it work for you too.

Why not just set the filter to display style set # whatever. It's essentially the same thing.

John,

So how does one use the filter to see all the styles in RealStyle set #83 to display? I am probably overlooking the easy "filtering" way to do this.

Never mind - just checked and found it's only for MIDI styles. Maybe in a future update, they can add a filter for RealTracks Set #XXX. Oh, well.
