Here's my latest creation. I've been working on this for the last couple of weeks. I got a new Fender Telecaster Custom Deluxe from the Fender Custom Shop almost three weeks ago (nicest guitar I've ever owned) and I can't seem to put the dang thing away and not play it. Anyway, I was practicing with a backing track on my Fender G-Dec amplifier and came up with this lick that just sounded so cool with my new Tele. So I decided to see if I could come up with a whole song based on this backing track & lick. So I brought the midi file (drums, bass & strings) into RB and changed them to audio files and adjusted to the right length, then added some other RealDrum tracks and brought them all into Reaper, then added my guitar parts & vocals. So the only RT's are the drum parts. I also did something different in that I used my JamVox for the guitar parts (which I usually do) but this time instead of recording the guitars dry and adding FX in Reaper, I used the FX from the guitar settings in JamVox 'cause I really liked the way they sounded. Most of the guitar parts are my new Tele but my Strat does have a track as well. (Had to... he was gettin' jealous) The song is meant to make you grin. It is a little long so we'll call it the dance mix. All comments welcome. Greg http://www.mymusicstream.com/gregachord/song-8407601923647.htmlC.2011 Words & Music: Greg Achord (16 bar intro) Rub It Girl I wanna’ take you on a ride with me There’s somethin’ there I hope your gonna’ wanna’ see Leavin’ all your worries and your troubles behind Come on girl we got a party to find It’s time to rub it… (Intro Lick) I don’t think you know it but your just my kind Girl we gotta’ find a way to be entwined You and me you know we fit just like a glove There’s somethin’ here I think you better get hold of It’s time to rub it… (Rythm) (8 bar intro lick) Now girl you shouldn’t sit there just a wonderin’ why You didn’t take a chance you didn’t even try You said you wanna’ party for the rest of the night So why you wanna’ hit me with a big red light It’s time to rub it… (Rythm) (8 bar intro lick) (freeform solo) I’m gonna’ give you one more chance to see it my way I promise I don’t bite girl I just wanna’ play Don’t tell me one more time just to leave you alone Give a guy a break throw a dog a bone It’s time to rub it… (Rythm) (8 bar intro lick) (16 bar outro)

Greg, this song is a hoot! The Tele sounds great by the way - also really liked the overall production. Great job on this. Bob

Hey Greg, It sounds like you were having a blast doing this. The guitars sound great to me. I got a kick out of the "oh say can you see" melody lick in the middle break . I also liked the low voice harmony - really fit the mood. I get it's a fun jamming party song and I could imagine a club crowd doing some get down and dirty dancing to this. Don't know if I'd have chosen that hook line but when I think about it, it's actually mild in comparison to what is out there these days. Enjoyed the listen. Congrats on the new guitar.

Fantastic! Really great work here with this one. I got a line6 variax a couple years ago and I love the thing so much I couldn't seem to put it down either. That seems to happen with all the new guitars I've gotten over the years, so I can relate!
The song is cool- I like it. The guitar tracks and riffs, the harmony parts sound great and are well executed. I'm also a sucker for harmony guitars. I do that as often as I can. Allman Brothers influence? I admit it! You mention liking the sounds and commiting them to the recording- that's a very good thing. It's not often done anymore and because of that, I think we make ourselves work twice as hard as we would if we just commited to a great sound on the way in and recorded it. It's not only liberating, it usually sounds ten times better and gives the overall sound of the tune a firm direction in which to go. It's like decorating a room and choosing the focal point- be it color, the drapes, the furniture, whatever. Once you commit to the focal point, it works to define the rest of the decor of the overall space. Listen to me right- like I'm an interior decorator, which I'm NOT! LOL! But it's the same thing with audio and it's no small thing to do that. Kudos to getting and commiting to a sound on the way in. I bet it made it that much more fun, and a whole lot easier too. The mix is good as well. I always have things to say about a mix, but suffice to say it works and the song is well represented.
I suppose that's the long way of saying I liked it! Great work!
Dan

Bob, Thank you! The song is meant to be exactly that... A Hoot Josie, I did have a great time doing this song. Thanks for the nice comments and yea I'd say it's meant for more of a club crowd. The hook just happened and then I couldn't find anything I liked better. My wife doesnt't really think it's the best choice, but she couldn't give me a better one! I briefly considered "Wub It" and also "Scrub It". Thanks again, Greg

Hey Dan, Thank you so much for the kind words, I do appreciate it. Glad you liked my 'ode to The Allman Bro's. I've certainly listened to and played my fair share of southern rock tunes over the years. I love that style of music and of course all the twin guitar parts. I used to due "Jessica" in a band back in the 80's, we did the twin part and then the other guitar player would run over and do the piano solo... Fun Stuff! (Of course we did "Free Bird" too) Hey I think your quote below is spot on. Love your comparison to decorating! I was just loving some of the tones & FX I was getting from the JamVox and I knew I'd spend hours trying to re-create it if I recorded dry and then tried to get it back with plug-ins. So I thought, hey if you like it, let's just go with it! Your right it saved ton's of time and I certainly won't shy away from doing it some more on future projects. Thanks again, Greg Quote:

Hi Greg
Really like your song and the drive you put in it. And what you did with a simple backing track. Like the lyrics as well. Even if I understand Josie's comment, I confess : I don't mind "rub it"... ( my wife would've also thought it wasn't the best choice...). Glad you didn't put "wub it" or "scrub it" !! Love the last lyric : "Give a guy a break throw a dog a bone" !! Great sounding guitars and licks and solo. And yes, as Dan said, a reminiscent Allman brothers flavor to it...
Thanks for sharing
Best of all and hope your day is a nice one

Pierre, Thanks for the kind words and the listen. And you know, no matter how suggestive it may be... Rub It just worked the best. Besides, it always makes something feel better when you "Rub It"! Thanks again, Greg

Hi Greg, This song is a real credit to you. Musicianship abounds throughout on every level. I've just been reading "Why Gender Matters" by Leonard Sax. This book deals with how males and females view the world, and their place in the world, very differently. I suspect that these lyrics will polarize your listeners. My guess is that most men will laugh along with them and most women will not. It will be interesting to watch your audience when you perform the song All the best, Noel

Hey Noel, Thanks for the listen and your nice comments. Based on the various responses I'm getting from men & women, I'd say your guess is pretty much spot on. I'm looking forward to performing the song live and seeing how it goes over in that kind of a setting. My hope is that someone will want to invent a new line dance called "The Rub It" and shortly after I'll be rich & famous! LOL Thanks Again, Greg

It’s all been said but I’ll add two more “loved it”!
Great chops and outstanding mix.
Congrats on the new guitar. I know when I get a new guitar I can’t out it down either.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination , it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Mario, Thank you so much. You know it's been over 3 weeks since I got my new Tele, (his name's Trigger) and as Forrest Gump would say, "We're just like peas & carrots". I think my Strats are gonna' mutiny! Thanks again, Greg

Wow...what a delightfully nasty little song. I love it. The title and drive put me in mind of something ZZ Top might do...especially the title. You've been sandbagging me, dude; I didn't know you were such a hot player. Tele's will do that to ya. So, welcome to my addiction: I have twelve...count 'em...twelve Tele's of every permutation. Gotta love that sound. Sheesh!
Well this is a great song and production. You just keep getting better and better, dude. Love the twin guitar, Allman sound. Did you play the harmonies or is it a harmony pedal? Whatever, it's great work.
Excellent work. Keep it up.
Bob

Hey Bob, Thanks so much for the kind words. I'll give my new Tele (Trigger), yes I name some of my guitars, his fair share of the credit for inspiration and what not. Twelve... Did you say Twelve Tele's!! Ooh... is one of them a 70's Deluxe with the two humbuckers, big headstock, probably brown or white?? If soo.... I'll bet you'd hardly even miss it! I mean heck I'd probably lose count after Ten. Anyway thanks again for the listen. Greg PS I played all the harmony parts.

That chugs along nicely! Yes, I like the ZZ vibe; some of their titles were pretty risque too! Loved the harmony licks, I can't resist them myself! Nice work. 12 Teles! Coo. I just have one: James Burton Artist. John
