This is the best arrangment I can find for My Sweet Lord but the chords seem to be in the wrong place - what do you think? My Sweet Lord

Thanks folks

Sam,

Your recent questions make me wonder the same thing Danny C. mentioned:

Quote:

Come on Sam are you really looking?

Since my right hand is broken, I can’t try out the progression you posted a link to without an instrument.

But I’m wondering, … are you trying to figure out the answer before posting? Or are you having a question and asking for an answer before trying to figure it out for yourself?

Especially the chord changes to a simple song like this!

I am Bob. I am.

Sorry but I am a singer. I would not call myself a guitarist (even though I have 3 of the bloody things and a bass) but a singer songwriter. Maybe I should just run it through the BIAB machine and see what comes up? Sometimes that is easier but it takes a while. I just thought that maybe somebody here would be able to correct me - I have tried these chords and they just do NOT seem to be in the right place to my ear. So, I'm still asking... Is that OK?

Just google the song. Lots of guitar tabs out there. Later, Ray

I wouldn't reccommend that Sam unless you have a really good ear, (which if you did, you wouldn't be using it), because it picks up on every nuance and gives you all kinds of wierd chords that don't belong in places where they shouldn't be.

Just listen to the changes. Even if you're not a guitarist, you can hear when the chords change.

That is why I am stating that I don't think the chords are in the right place on that lead sheet Bob. I can pick up most of them by ear but not all

As with any chord/lyric sheet, one usually has to view them with a non-proportionally spaced font to see where the transcriber decided to put the chords. The Chordie site does not use proportionally spaced fonts - which would make me completely ignore it. Try the Ultimate Guitar site for a better place to pick up chord transcriptions.

The link posted by Glenn is a MIDI file. Rather a good one. Download and save it to your desktop.

Then in BIAB, go to FILE > OPEN MIDI FILE and load the song you saved.

BIAB will give you the chords without using the Audio Chord Wizard. Remember that Gbmi is the same as F#mi.

If you look at this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wynYMJwEPH8

...you will see that Harrison capo's up two and bases the song on a movement from Emi to A.

In BiAb, change the midi to the key of B to see these chords.

There is another source - it just lists harmonies - which is likely what most of us need as we tend to know the melodies:

http://www.realbook.us/

I found the following at this site - the neat thing is that you can select any key (or the Roman numeral system) and it will transpose all the harmonies into your selected key:

Sam,

I have found that chords I get from "all most" every site, and even frrom some sheet music have to be worked out in BIAB before I am ready to hit play before a live audience (it varies with dead audiences). Rule of thumb ALWAYS work them out in BIAB. This is also the way to go, especially if you are looking to put your own spin or even change phrasing to make the song a better fit with your style.

Sam,

Sheet Music Plus or Musicnotes.com will allow you to display the 1st page of a song, if they have it. Tempo, key and chord changes are usually listed as well. The changes are set correctly in time as well.

Nice little "cheat" for setting up a song in Biab.

Trax

Example

Also, in this example, click the two flat notes button to transpose, just click "ok" and it will transpose to key of G for you. The "D" chord is listed near the 4th beat, which is actually a pushed chord, so we would enter it in the next bar, beat one as ^D in Biab.
