I had to do a really quick backing track for church on Sunday and ran into a problem. To be honest I got it fixed but was in such a time crunch I am not sure what exactly I did to fix it. Here is the issue.

I created three tracks

1. Drums, Bass, Accoustic Guitar
2. Once mix was where I wanted it I started DAW plug-in.
3. I opened Sonar X1 and selected tracks and drug tracks into Sonar
4. Tracks moved easily and wave forms showed up.
5. I played back the tracks and they sounded distorted and horrible. I lowered the volumes but that did not make a difference.

In the end I played around with loading different drivers going with WDM and changed the bit dept rate from 24 in Sonar to 16.

Is my issue a bit depth problem or something else I am doing? I am guessing Real Band does everything in 16 bit? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I am still amazed by the way at how quick you can create a professional sounding track with this software. Yes, with more time I could have improved dynamics and phrasing but for most people listening they never heard the musical things I was hearing.

RB defaults to 44.1/16. If your card is "locked" at another sample rate you need to set RB to that same sample rate. If you can unlock the card so the app. can set the rates.

Terry,

I believe if you record higher then 16/44.100 and THEN convert that wave file to a stereo wave file to burn on a CD, it converts the format back to 16/44.100 to put on the CD. I'm not 100% sure about this, but that is the format for burning to CD; 16/44.100

Maybe someone will chime in here and update our knowledge about the format for burning to a CD?
