I find that the VU Meter in PT 2011 does not work for Midi tracks and only in Output for Audio Tracks. I have reinstalled twice, but without sorting this out.
I am using a new HP Daw with Creative F-XI Soundcard and finding that ASIO provides better recordings at the moment, but I cannot use it in PTW. If the program is closed with ASIO selected then when reopened there is a very loud noise and no sound even from my external synth. Changing to MEE does not recover the Midi sounds and it is necessary to copy over a security copy of PTW to clear the problem. Incidentally, the ASIO works OK in RealBand

When I use the ASIO4ALL with PT, using the MS GS-Wavetable (no Re-Route to Dxi/VST) I get the error message:
Audio and/or DXi Output will be silent. The ASIO4ALL driver is not connected, likely due to your using a soft-synth (like GS-WaveTable) for MIDI
Entered some MIDI notes, hit play and got:
Error
Note: ASIO4All is not able to output sound. This usually means it can''t do so at the same time as your MIDI Driver, so you likely need to choose another MIDI driver to get ASIO4All working, and then reboot machine
It plays anyway, but everytime you press play you get the error message.
Switching to MS MIDI Mapper same result.
