I'm running PTW 2011 and RBW 2011.5 build 3.
When I try to open a Midi-to-Sequence file created in PowerTracks in RealBand, it locks up RealBand.
I'm using no FX, and Midi tracks only. This Sequence file Plays without trouble in PowerTacks.
When this file locks up real Band I use Winows Task Manager to shut the program down.
Then I get the error message:

Access Violation at address 0047922F in Module 'RealBand.exe'.
Read of Address 000001B0 at 0047922F.

Then, when I reboot the PC to get a fresh start, I get the next error message:

1 Program needs to close
(waiting for) bbw2 window-NoName.SGU
This programs is preventing windows from Restarting.

It looks like bbw2 has made a call, and is not getting the required response ...

Did you check to see if a window was open somewhere waiting for a response from you?

Sounds like maybe an 'Extract channels to tracks?' box popped up and never got found ..

Hi rharv,
I looked in C:\RealBand, and found the folder containing recently generated error messages, and this is the last one on the list:

(2011.5 (3) Beta (3)) 7/17/2011,5:42:01 PM -
Access violation at address 0074B821 in module 'realband.exe'.
Read of address 00000064 at: 0074B821

When RB comes up, the main screen initializes - there are no open windows - it just locks up right there. There's nothing I can do but use Task Manager to kill it.
The program leaves bbw2 running with about 50% of the CPU cycles encumbered.
The message about bbw2 running is hidden behind the 'desktop', so you won't know about it until you attempt to shutdown the PC.

Email support with the description (point to this thread) and the error message. The addresses mean nothing to me but may to them. I suspected the 'hidden window' when you first described it. Just curious, is a browser open at the time? That's when I have seen it here before.

No Brower open - whenever I run PG Music software, that's ALL I have running (except for the multiple hidden Windows background programs that we users never know very much about).
The other partially hidden program running in the backgropund when I start RealBand is bbw2, which is a PG Music program.

Perhaps PTW 2011 should have a "Consolidate Midi region" command (a little like a similar command for Audio Tracks) that would force the Midi tracks to be "RealBand Friendly".

I'll copy this to PG Music support ...

Can't consolidate MIDI, each event is it's own entry. Consolidate audio just makes the track so the trigger events (that make the audio recordings play at the right time) get turned into one event by combining the audio sections so one trigger event plays it all.

In the old days, (around PT5 or 6) we could manually move the trigger events in the Event list like they were midi events. <grin> That's how some of us old timers 'slid' the audio into time. Nowadays we just grab it and nudge it graphically (or copypasta which is the oldest method).

Yes BBW2 is a PGProgram that runs inside RB. I think it has to do with the styles and realtracks selections but never tried researching it. Wonder if setting the processor priority to 'background services' would help. (?)
FWIW it has only happened here during Beta versions. But is has happened more than once and I could replicate it IF I left the browser open.. I figured it had to do with the fact it was a beta version and likely had things like range-checking running too.

I have the Audiophile version with the real tracks and the real drums located on the 1TB external drive provided by PG Music. Biab 2011.5, RealBand 2011.5, and PowerTracks 2011 EXE. files are all installed on the C:\ drive. I notice that when I start RealBand, it initializes the accompaniment files on the external hard drive for 30 to 45 seconds - even though I have not touched the "generate" push button, and I only have "User" Midi files. I'm not currently using Biab, but I suspect that parts of it may be called by RealBand.

Previous versions waited to initialize until you hit generate. New version does it at launch

I also had a lock up the other day with BBW2 hanging in task master. It caused a crash. Something in the new 2011.5 version is not solid yet, 2011 never acted this way. The new software is a bit buggy, It has ran pretty good the last couple days, but it does seem less stable then 2011 was.

I hope that they get a handle on it soon. With my new computer i have trouble figuring out what is the system, and what is the software.
