As these are two very original-type pieces and some of us here are probably not familiar with the genre you're aligning with, can you give us some direction as to what kind of input you're looking for? e.g. arrangements, engineering, mixes? Under these criteria my first impressions on listening to both are:
'Omniscient' - I liked this, a nice soundscape. I really enjoyed the odd 'voice' lead coming in at 1:16, how did you do that? Sounds like lead guitar through a special pedal/software processor. Very hooky indeed! Mix: I'd have mixed the drums a tad forward than they are. A really enjoyable track, thanks!
'W.A.T.' - My first impression is that the living daylights had been squashed out of the track by excessive limiting. The drums were totally submerged under the guitar work, so I assume you are a guitar player ;O) and the compression only allows them to surface when they have a toms riff later on. Listening a second time I realise it's the rhythm guitar parts that have a nasty digital distortion on them which is the culprit - when they drop out of the arrangement things become very clear and the track has some real life and interest going. I'd try a remix and get that clarity back throughout the track if possible.
I know massive limiting is a feature of this genre but it made the overall mix very distorted and mushy which made it uncomfortable for me to listen to. Maybe doing something about the harshness of the overdrive on the rhyhthm guitars and/or moving them down in the mix will still allow heavy limiting but without the hard 'zizz'?
Oh, is Band In A Box on any of these at all? Just curious, no Styles I recognise!
Thanks for sharing!
