If you have tons of folders with BnBox songs on your Windows computer here is the best way to find them: Download the Everything Search Engine (free program, but donations would be very appropriate!). http://www.voidtools.com/It's extremely fast, million times better than built in Windows search or anything else I have ever tried). It will index and find your songs by title. I keep all of my midi stuff under one folder, so when I tell Everything to search a drive/folder it works most efficiently. Of course it's a great program for finding anything and everything on your computer. Let me know how you like it.

I really like this. It IS fast.
Dan, do you have to run the 'installer' .EXE every time? I could not find the program anywhere (even by using Everything), and Windows asks permission each time to run it. I want to make a shortcut that runs without the prompt.

Matt, it should be in your start/all programs in a folder called "Everything". You also can set up a shortcut key to run it. It's a fantastic program and so much faster than the Windows built in search. I have been using it for a couple of years now.

Dan - Just tried it - fantastic - Thanks.
For BIAB, the problem is that the file name may not be descriptive (might be a code, gross appreviation, ...), but the song name (embedded in the file) often has the full, or more verbose name. So searching for just filename of a song may not get you what you want.
BIAB's Song Picker does show the embedded song name in its list.
I have about 14000 BIAB files and lots of hard drive space. So I have a folder called "Song Picker Collections" in which all my various BIAB folders are copied. Then I use Song Picker to search that, including the embedded song name.
I think, with W7, I could get rid of the "Song Picker Collections" folder and create a Library to do the same thing. Too lazy right now.
Thanks again.

Bob, I do not see it in Programs. The Start entry is empty. I cannot find it anywhere in the Program Files or Program Files x86 folders, under either E or V.
The only thing I see is three new icons on the desktop. The first one runs the install, and the other two are not executable (they are the database file and the config).
I'm using Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit.

Matt - My install went easily and my desktop icon works.
I now have a folder called "C:\Program Files (x86)\Everything" in which is Everything.exe. See if you have that. If so, make a shortcut, yada yada yada. If not, must have an install problem. Perhaps try again and watch where installer is trying to install it.
Good luck.

Mystery solved.
I had downloaded the ZIP file form of the program, designed to run without install on portable devices. There never was an install in the normal sense. Being careful, I read about the program before installing, and I saw this link in the website and did not realize there were others.
I just went back to Dan's first post and downloaded and installed the first link given. All set. Thanks for the help.

Hello,
I wrote a program to browse biab files and search on some criterias. It can be found here: http://swingingsoft.free.fr/biabExplore2.html (it's freeware)
Best regards,
Chris

Chris, welcome to the forum.
You have two posts, and both are about this link. With all possible respect, I will not click on your link until you have been around here a little longer and we know you are legit. Perhaps you would be willing to tell us more about yourself and your history with BIAB? What made you write the utility, and what language did you use? Thanks.

BiaB Explorer looks very interesting. How does it compare to -> BBFinder?

Eddie, Nothing wrong with the normal ways of finding BB files. This, however goes way past BIAB. Perhaps I need a REAPER drag and drop file or a picture of my dog Rossi. If it is on C drive, thumb drive or a usb drive, it will find it. Click it and it will open it. Now how cool is that? e.l.c.

So the utility from Chris is safe and it works? Or are the favorable comments about the Everything tool?

I ran Chris' link through http://web-sniffer.net/ and it looks clean. I did not install his program, but that page looks safe to me. I went to it. Download and scan his program before installing if worried.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

I learned of this program from my Kim Komando newsletter. I already had it, but had not used it yet. Seems that every time I do a new song, I end up with 5-7 different versions and I only really use one. But do I go back and delete the unused files? I'm hoping that this pgm will help me identify and delete those extraneous files.
