I know how to generate midi harmony in Biab so decided to give it a try today in RB. All I did was open a midi file with a single one line melody. I keep getting a msg in the upper right corner, in the yellow block, say that I have to freeze the midi track so it won't generate. However, I can't get the harmony track to generate anyway I try it. Where am I going wrong here? Thanks.

RealBand doesn't generate MIDI harmonies like BIAB does. Your best bet is to generate the harmony in BIAB, make it permanent, then bring it into RealBand.
RealBand doesn't support the BIAB MIDI harmonist feature nor the BIAB MIDI soloist feature. you still need to use BIAB for that.

Thanks John, but there is a line item on the right click track popup menu for Midi Harmony in RB. What's it's purpose then?

Well, dang me, I didn't realize that it was there now...I guess it would be a senior moment. Anyway, I tried it and it worked for me. Now all we need is the melodist.

Hi John. Can you give me a brief description on what you did to get it to work, please?
What I did was to open a midi file with a one line melody, right click on the track and then click on the midi harmony item. I must be missing something though. Thanks for any help.

Make sure you've got a chord progression in the chord grid. It needs that to work. It needs to know the chords being used in order to create a harmony.

Ah!!! I'll add the chords. That's one thing I didn't do. Sometimes we use karaoke mp3's for backups and just add a melody (turned way down). Once in awhile, I print out harmony notation. Mostly, I just play the harmony without notation, but my wife likes to read from the charts. However, I just write the harmony in Sibelius most of the time. I was just going to try it an easier (lazier?) way this time.:)
