I just purchased Band in a Box for Windows. I already have many self-created charts on Finale/Print Music that I would like to play in band in a box. How can I have BiaB play my Finale chart? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
Try exporting your Finale chart as a type 1 MIDI file. BIAB can open that.

One thing to keep in mind Bossa is while Biab will open and play the midi file it may or may not give you the exact chords you created in Finale. The reason for this is chord info is not part of the midi file standard. Biab or Real Band will give you it's interpretation of the chords by analyzing the file and depending on how complex the song is those chords may be close but not perfect. You will probably have to go into the chord grid and make a few corrections but that's a lot better than having to start from scratch.

Hi Bob,
thank you for your answer about importing Finale files into BIAB.
I saw that your answer was in 2010, and i am wondering if there is now a way to import finale files with chords into BIAB without BIAB changing them ?

Yes. Try creating a Music XML file in Finale. I don't use Finale, so you might find that in the File, Save menu, or perhaps in an Export command. Then, in BIAB, do File, Open Special, Open Music XML File.
Music XML files include chords. Unfortunately, it is not fully standardized and sometimes doesn’t work, but try it.
Similarly, you might try exporting your Finale file as an ABC type if that is supported in Finale. You'll see that as another option in the BIAB File, Open Special menu.
Do report back, please, with your results.
