Hi
in the last week my Biab-11.5 with updates has decided every now and then to make the most diabolical noise a hundred cats all howling at once with a really good vibrato (my brother said with a little bit of work it could sound like a new genre of out of tune heavy metal) i stop and restart and it go`s away but returns at any time ,any thoughts, any one else had anything like this i don`t think this a factory reset measure never had anything like this before
regards Dave
I always play the right notes but not always in the right order

Hi Dave,
I've never heard of anything like this but to help solve the problem, it would be good to know a bit more about your set-up. Some questions that spring to mind are ...
1. What is your operating system and is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
2. Have you recently installed a new operating system of sound software?
3. What is your computer's processor speed?
4. How much RAM do you have?
5. What sound card do you use?
6. Does this problem happen with Realtracks-based styles only or does it happen with MIDI-based styles too?
7. Do you run MIDI internally or externally?
8. Have you installed the latest update from 2011.5 from PG Music?
9. Have you tried running a full reset to determine that this does not solve the problem?
Regards, Noel

suggests to me a mismatch between the sampling rate of BIAB and you sound device. Both should be at 44100 Hz. When they are not all auido-hell brecks lose. But this should be a one time setting??
BIAB – 2026, Reaper (current), i7-12700F Processor, 32GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, Motu Audio Express 6x6 - My SoundCloud.

Hi Noel
1 Vista 32 bit 2 pentium dual core processer 14200 3-3 gb 4- none whatso ever 5- presonus Audiobox USB 6- no differance, what ever i have loaded 7 -externally 8 - yes 9 - i have tried every thing with out success,i thought the whole lot had gone as i could not load either BIAB or Realband but after shuttin down a few times they have finally loaded another strange thing is thst every time i shut Realband down, when i restart it it says that realband has crashed and i have to set it up each time but that propreble has nothing to do with the noise i think maybe its to do with ASIO as earlier i had to run on MNME as asio made this type of noise but not so bad ,thanks for your intrest
regards Dave

This sort of sounds like a physical problem like a failing component on the motherboard or the power supply. Lets hope that's not it because good luck tracking that down if it doesn't happen all the time. The only way to test this is start with the easiest things like your cables and work up from there like disconnecting your Presonus and run the audio from your onboard soundchip. If you still get this then I would look at the power supply first. Wavering voltage from a failing PS can cause all sorts of weird things then it finally goes completely and it can toast your system.

Hi Dave,
I agree with Bob.
Given your system, my plan of attack would be ...
1. Save the present setup using Opt | Save preferences as.This will allow you to easily reload them at any time.
2. Direct BIAB to the internal sound card rather than the external one.
3. Set the driver to MME (if you are currently using ASIO).
4. Exit BIAB so that the settings are saved.
5. Restart BIAB and see how it plays.
If there is no change. I'd go to Windows "Control Panel" (under the Windows Start Menu) and disable the User Account Control (UAC) to see if that was causing some problem. If the problem still persists, I'd re-engage (UAC).
Lastly, I'd leave everything set as above and then re-install the BIAB/RB installation file. (This does not require the Realtracks and Realdrums to be reinstalled.)
This leads me to a couple of other questions ...
(i) Do you run BIAB from the USB drive? If so, did you run the installation file on the USB drive and set-up BIAB so that it could run from that drive? (I've noticed on these forums that sometimes people have not run the installation file and it has been the cause of a number of problems. Often there's been a significant delay between first using BIAB and the problem's appearance.)
(ii) What ASIO driver have you been using?
Regards, Noel
