I'm trying to decide what upgrade (from 2011)pak to purchase, and would appreciate some thoughts.... $$, as always, is a concern...
I have a 'smooth jazz' duo - me on piano, and my wife on vocals... we do mainly standards, with some newer stuff rearranged...swing, bossa nova, and ballads.. would the MegaPak offer 'enough' or is the UltraPlus pak worth the extra $70 - considering the type of material we perform ??

Hi Pooch,
While the UltraPlus Pak has Realtracks that you won't use, the number of Realtracks that you get for the extra $70 is staggering. I seem to recall a recent post from Peter Gannon on this where he said UltraPlus Pak had around 600 Realtracks as compared to 160 Realtracks in the MegaPak. To clarify this, simply send Sales an email. They're very efficient.
My experience is that I've never been disappointed with going for the maximum I can afford to spend.
I might be wrong but I suspect that when you play around with the many different Realtracks in the UltraPP, you'll get a whole heap of new arrangement ideas.

we like to say that the price of BIAB paid once is less than the what you'd pay the rest of the band after every gig.

I waited 6 months to upgrade to Mega Pak.
During the purchase was made aware of the Ultra Plus Pak pricing and content.
Do not discount getting the $25 Bonus Pak, more tracks and other goodies,
well worth it.
Was a bit more, but then you have the whole schmooley.
Am so happpy with the extra realtracks, and soloists with the RT.
No I'm not eating beans to pay for it..

A big part of your questionis undefined still .. what version of 2011 did you get? If your 2011 was an ultra or everything pak, the answer may be different, as you would only be adding the *new* realtracks, and that would be up to you to decide if you want them.
If the preceeding pak was a smaller pak, the upgrade may be substantial.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Everything Pack has extra stuff I couldn't live without now ! I started with pro then mega then everything pack and wished later I had got it all to begin with. I have never regretted getting it all ! Great time to update with the Christmas sale !

Yep, everything ypu can afford. Amazing what a rock or boogie rt can do to a ho hum arrangement of almost anything.

With this release, we have some new Smooth Jazz RealTracks, with a hot band including some of the greats in the genre (Jeff Lorber (Rhodes), Eric Marienthal (Sax, Chick Corea's band), Alex Al (Michael Jackson's bass player), Ricky Lawson (Drums, YellowJackets), Michael Thompson (guitar). Of course the other big difference between the MegaPAK and the UltraPAK is that the UltraPAK comes on a pre-installed Hard Drive, compared to DVD's with the MegaPAK. So I'd get the UltraPAK if I were you...

I followed a similar path to TommyC when I started out with BIAB. My first version was 2006 MegaPak and at the very first opportunity to upgrade, I went to the Ultraplus Pak. Since then, I've updated every six months. I cannot imagine not having all the Realtracks because incredible versatility comes from having the widest selection possible.
