This is a great idea IF you still have the option of loading something other than a piano.

It would load a single MIDI instrument - much like Select Custom MIDI Style for this track does. But I think it makes more sense to change the MIDI instrument via the usual options (GM dropdown list or VSTi Instrument button) rather than as an option on the dialog.

I understand why Select Custom MIDI Style for this track has the option of selecting an instrument there, but since I'd likely be assigning it to a VSTi instrument, I'd prefer that functionality not to be part of the dialog.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The new Bolero real track is outstanding. While we have had bolero midi styles for some time now, I believe we are missing the “Vals” and “Danza” which are sort of related in the mood they provide yet different in context. It would be stepping toward completing the latin styles with the tango, mambo, seis and many other previously released styles. Thanks!

Hi Latjimenez and Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you start a new thread for this request. The new version of BIAB has Son Montuno and Bolero RealTracks, which are not MIDI, and this thread is about MIDI styles. PG Music might decide to make new RealTracks in the styles you would like.

Hi all,

With the advent of the new MIDI SuperTracks with 2012.5 release it occurred to me that it would be a great idea to produce a whole collection of drum tracks using these new techniques. The RealDrums are fantastic but obviously you no flexibility with them in terms of producing separate wave files for bass drum, snare etc. If the same quality of feel could be prodcued via MIDI for these drums then they could be played through quality VST drums such as Toontrack, Addictive drums and so on. You could then generate separate wave files for each drum instrument which would allow plenty of flexibility in mixing. You could of course edit out cymbal crashes or add them and all kinds of other esimple MIDI editing. I am sure the excellent people at PG Music have already thought of this idea but it seems an obvious way forward for BIAB. If we could easily genereate fantastic drum parts ranging from jazz, rock, latin, blues, reggae etc etc etc all played by real drummers but produced via MIDI it would be brilliant.

So there is my suggestion for what it is worth.

Regards

Tony

I would like to see a lot more slow classical styles with a tempo range of 70-120, and now, with the introduction of MIDI super tracks, it would be nice to see soloist lines to go with these classical styles.

Also some smooth jazz styles like David Sanborn, George Benson, Peter White, Dave Koz, Bob James, Fourplay, Acoustic Alchemy, The Ripingtons, Etc. [/quote
I'd second that.

Also maybe some funk. Tower of Power etc.

I requested this already elsewhere.. but since we're talking midi styles specifically...
I'd like to see some midi supertracks that can be used to build brass sections...
then I'd like to see some styles that use those supertracks (funk, R&B, BST, Chicago styles)

Why did Peter Gannon ask us to post what midi styles we wanted and say new midi styles would be added at the 2012.5 release only to not do that nor even mention anything about them . Super midi tracks are not midi styles . I listened to the Super midi track demos for 2012.5 and again for 2013 and don't see how one can say they are anywhere near being a midi style . My definition of a midi style is one written for midi instruments . The file exported would be a midi file with separate tracks that could be displayed and edited in standard music notation software . If I wanted audio loops I think there are far better ones to be had elsewhere . Now I know some like the real styles , I don't because I can not edit them or have the control as I would have with a midi file . Does anyone else get it ?

I get it about midi styles but super midi tracks are just what they say they are and that is midi tracks! They are not styles and they are not advertised as styles. You can use them in midi styles, RealTrack styles or in combinations of both. They are midi so yes you can edit them. Also as midi files you can export them as midi.

I use mostly midi styles for the same reasons as you do.

I hope this helped clear up this misunderstanding.

(I hope this helped clear up this misunderstanding.)

The misunderstanding is on PG Music's side . Peter Gannon clearly asked us to submit lists of midi styles we would like to have them create , and they would most likely be included in the 2012.5 release. As I pointed out they instead presented Super midi tracks , which clearly are not midi styles . To my ears the Super midi tracks were , lifeless , no meat to them , boring ... I wouldn't use them anywhere . Yes I know I could edit them since they are midi , Rather than waist the time it would just be easier to play them in myself with feeling , a better presentation IMO .

So Mr. Peter Gannon will we ever get any new midi styles , all tracks being midi as they are in style sets #1 through Set #77 ?

Bob Norton can chime in here and list all of the reasons , or things that one can do with midi that can not be done with audio loops .

I know some of the midi idiots have not upgraded since real tracks came on the scene , I'm still here and continue handing over $$$ as are others in hopes that PG Music won't disregard requests of those of us who with our support over the years helped make BNAB the success it is today .

The misunderstanding was on my side, sorry. Now I know exactly what you mean and being a midi idiot I agree with you 100% about adding new midi styles. We want more midi styles.

Yes More MIDI styles, but :
1 - no MIDI styles with outdated grid drums, we want Live Drums
2 - no MIDI patterns with constant velocity. we want variable velocity patterns.
Many MIDI styles have patterns with the same level of velocity for the notes. That means no dynamics.
I've been requesting MIDI compressor/expander/humanizer for velocity to get much dynamics, but up to now, nobody cares about that.

Good points John-Luke. These are a couple of reasons I only do rough drafts in BiaB. I bring the midi files over to Sonar where I can randomize both timing and velocity levels of those tracks.

Still waiting for new MIDI styles ? ? ?

I so hope with the new release that PG Music has listened and understood , MIDI is not DEAD ! Some of the best sample libraries are audio triggered by MIDI, including but not limited to, BFD2, Addictive Drums, Garritan Series, Native Instruments Series, and on and on. Give me a MIDI track and I can do almost anything. Audio is what you get and has limits.

MIDI IDIOTS raise your combined voices and be heard .
