Good sign, perhaps, that this bundle is about to be discontinued, but still. MSRP $420. And it's a Lexicon! Comes with Steinberg Cubase LE4 and a proprietary Lexicon reverb plugin as well as Win 7 drivers. Tremendous specs on the audio side, including 48V phantom power on two inputs plus MIDI. I'm considering replacing my now antiquated (2003 vintage) DAW and realized that I will likely have to replace my TASCAM US-224 USB interface, as the latest drivers date to 2007. I went looking and the Lexi was the first thing that came up. If anyone has any objections, please, speak up. Details at Lexicon Omega Desktop Recording Studio at Musician's Friend.

I installed one of these for a friend, the install went well, and it worked out of the box. However I do not think he has ever used it. Most of the reviews are bad on this unit. Still many who review are just mad cause they can't get it to work. But there are a lot of bad reviews.
If you need on the cheap, for more than two inputs maybe. I would recommend the Tascam US 800 I have one and it is pretty good, not great mind you, and still a little bit problematic for some, but overall much better reviews.
Lastly i would spend a tad more and get either a focusrite, or a M-Audio interface.

I don't have any direct experience with it, so I probably should keep quite, but I've got to say I like what I can see of it. At that price, I can't think of anything that would offer more 'bang for the buck', even if you don't like cubase. If you do like cubase (lots of folks do) then it's just a little added gravy. Looks like there's several videos on youtube which is a plus imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gztXr5wPL0&feature=relatedSo, get the thing already. lol. (God, I love new toys, even when I'm not the one getting them!) ps. I've just been to your site and enjoyed your compositions.

I've used a friends a f couple of times & the drivers are not the best & latency is an issue. All depends what you need I suppose but I'm with Robh on this one & would look elsewhere if I were you

By the way, I just got my tascam us-224 working in windows 7!!! I thought there was no way, but I stumbled on some instructions on the internet -- http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/1101-63-tascam-driver-windows (scroll down to impy's post). After I went through the installation, I plugged in the us-224 and went to device manager to install it manually.
Now I haven't recorded anything yet -- so that is the real test. Someone in that thread complained about bad latency, but others said it was OK.

I took a look at the Lexicon Omega, but was scared away by the bad reviews. I went with the PreSonus Studio One software. It's more pricey and daunting for someone new to computer-based recording (like me); but the interface (Firestudio Mobile) has two inputs and is really clean-sounding. One of the selling points for me was staying in the same program all the way through basic tracking to mixing and mastering.
