I've actually started some on the manual but can't find the answer I'm looking for in regards to The Guitar Window. Okay, I got TGW to open and can view the neck but I can only get the CHORDS to show during the playing of a style. What I'd like to see are the individual NOTES of the solo that has been generated from a style I loaded for learning purposes. Does TGW only show lead parts of certain solos (and not others) or ANY AND ALL solos I can hear being played? I click on TUTOR but I can't find how to get the NOTES of the solo to show, just the chords.
Hope this makes some kind of sense.

Hello, Are you sure that you are viewing the correct track in the Guitar Window. e.g. in the image below I have selected the Soloist track. If you are viewing notation for a RealTracks instrument, the notation will only show up if there are 'RealCharts' available (check the 'chart' column in the RealTracks Picker).

Truth be told you lost me there. I'm a newbie but I can't find the correct buttons to push. Don't know about "RealCharts". (I guess I will now. Just picked up the manual and I'm now on page 106 soon to be reading about "RealTrack Settings" and "RealCharts". I'm now getting totally into something that I hope pans out. I just heard the following song on another topic: http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=341475&an=0&page=0#Post341475I like the solo work by "Brent Mason" and it suddenly dawned on me that with the help of those kinds of solos/riffs and BIAB I can take my playing to another level. Since BIAB "invents" solos/riffs to melodies I put in it's only a matter of learning the solos/riffs that the BIAB generates. (I have little imagination and, so, my solos usually sound similar.) Until now I have used BIAB for accompaniment mostly but not as a learning tool. Hopefully this isn't just a dream and BIAB can, in fact, be used in this manner. Which, means that I really have to find out how to get them notes viewable on the guitar window which would be abo9ut as good as having the actual guitar tablature. For now I had to resort to my trusty old cassette player/recorder to record the music and will then use my other cassette recorder (the Marantz) which enables me to slow down the music 50%. I'll do some reading up and come back to report with my progress (or problems), if any.

Hi,
I might have misunderstood your question. I was just saying that you can view any of the Band-in-a-Box tracks in the Guitar Window (Bass, Piano, Drums, Guitar, etc..). So if you're hearing a guitar part but not seeing it, then you are probably either viewing the wrong track, or hearing a RealTracks instrument that doesn't have notation available.
As long as the track has notation, you'll see the notes being played on the fretboard. All MIDI instruments have notation, and many RealTracks instruments have notation as well... notation for RealTracks is called "RealCharts".

Suprise! If a guitar realtrack has a realchart, then in the notation window it will also show the guitar tab. The learning curve for these products is WELL worth the time. Your gonna love it. Have fun...Bobby

A bit of reading tonight with the the mouse clicking starting tomorrow. Just have to say that I don't handle stress well but I'm sure the result will be well worth the effort. Or something like that.

I'm a newbie but I can't find the correct buttons to push.
the buttons are along the bottom of the guitar window along with a button labled help
if this is not true in your case we need to know how you're getting the window you're referring to to display
to insure you get the guitar window i'm referring to left click LC on the window menu then LC on guitar window
if it is true then
clicking the help button brings up a screen explaining how to use the features of this window including this passage
When you open the Guitar window, the first thing you'll want to do is choose the track that you want to display. Usually this will be a Melody track or a Soloist track. In the diagram here, the Soloist track is the current track, and it has a red rectangle around it to indicate this.
To get to the Melody track, you would click on the [M] button. Similarly, you can display other tracks like Bass, Piano, etc. (Tip: Pressing Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+ F5 goggles the track.)

Got it!! Thanks all! (And, yeah, reading the manual helps too!) I got the guitar window and did the clicking and can now see the solos appear on the neck. Also cool is that the scales positions show too! Wow, actually making progress. But now I have a couple other things I need answers too. (I like to ask here first, it's faster). (1) I want to obtain "Brent Mason-RT 1518". How do I find that or how to order it? I can find some RealTracks for soloing but not an individual player by name. (2) I can see the solo notes being played in standard notation, is there a way to switch to TABLATURE and print the solo out in TABLATURE? Clicked on some buttons but nothing so far. Or is standard notation available only?

I'm doing this with B&B 2011.5, should be the same as 2012. To see the guitar tablature: Click on the 1/8 note symbol(to the right of the tempo box)This opens the notation window,or click on options ( top left of b&b window) and select "preferences">notation (top left of this screen)this also opens the notation window.
Now in the notation window select options(top left). In the middle of the options screen you will see a box labled tab. Check it. You will also see a box to enable chord diagrams if you want. This will now show you the guitar tracks in the bass clef area of the staff as tab.
To be able to display the melody and solo tracks in tab do this... At the very top of the b&b window click on "melody" in the next window click on track type and select guitar.
Click on soloist at the very top and follow the same procedure. You should now see the guitar, melody, and soloist track in tab on the notation screen. Hint...any window you open usually has a help box at the bottom. This will take you directly to the help manual for the window you have open. Also, hover your mouse over an item and a help file will open.
As for your Brent Mason Realtrack, I don't believe you can purchase single realtracks. You should go to the realtracks page of PG Music and see what "set" this Brent Mason is in.
Just as a side note, I have 2012, but have not installed it yet. Also, I haven't used B&B in almost two years since I started using Realband. Get your feet wet, and when your comfortable with B&B, don't forget you also have realband. It's an awesome program.....Bobby
