Please help:
I like to record audio signal from my guitar in Band in a Box (using Asio). While I am playing the guitar I like to monitor what I am actually playing. I use the audio record feature in Band in a Box and the signals get recorded but I can not monitor the sound while I am recording.
In Realband monitoring of audio input works when the setting "Enable Input Monitoring" is enabled. Realband takes the audio input signal from input port 1 and sends it to output port 1 when this setting is on.
Is there nothing like that in Band in a Box to route the input to the output. This seems to be a very basic feature and without it recording of an electrical guitar in BiaB is not senseful.
I am aware that some soundcards do support direct monitoring through the hardware but I still wonder why this importing routing feature is available in Realband and not in Band in a Box.

Yes, it does seem odd that in BIAB there is no checkbox for Enable Input Monitoring (ASIO Only) ? I do all my recording in Real Band, but still, one would thing IM should be available in BIAB.

Just got BB 2022. Is this still the case? No way to hear your audio while recording other than if your audio hardware has monitoring of the input? Mine does (m-audio solo) but I was hoping to hear the FX in real-time. I finally figured out how to do it with RealBand (very non-obvious to me anyway) but so far not with BB.
I have seen other posts saying there's a monitor audio option somewhere but I can't find any such option.

I use the Motu M4 which allows mix indirect monitor with pc out. So far excellent.

The best way to monitor what you're playing is usually direct from the audio interface, bypassing any PC software completely. There are no true latency-free options via the PC software, though sometimes it can be low enough to not matter too much. Even 10ms can be disturbing. USB alone accounts for a couple of milliseconds.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.

Great advice. That is why a good semi to professional interface is vital. Recording in the a box is so important.

I have said this before, every audio recording program should have an audio monitor. Every other audio recording program that I have use has had a monitor.
IMHO this is one of the many reasons on should do all recording in a DAW. BiaB is a fantastic auto accompaniment program and not well suited for what some want it to do. YMMV
