I am having A problem ,Now that i know to start in BB when creating a song.I have it about 90% done and want to move to RB. Is Drag and drop the only way? it doesn't move the chords to real band the same as they are in BB.I don't want to have to enter all the chords over again.
Love getting back into biab in 2024

Open Real Band. Select Open. Navigate to your BIAB .sgu or .mgu file. It will build the file in RB.

JCJazz,
I don't use Drag 'n' Drop between BIAB/RB. I prefer to open the BIAB MGU/SGU file directly into RB.
Regards, Noel

As already said, you don't need Drag & Drop within these PG Music applications. Drag & Drop is intended to take a project into another DAW that is not a PG Music product. Chord info does not transfer with the MIDI standard, but it does transfer from BIAB to RB using PG Music's proprietary file format.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Simply save the file as and SEQ file - the standard RB format. Note: BIAB does not read SEQ files.

I use the SGU/MGU protocol too. Only I think mine has a glitch, as described in my following post in RB Forum. I'd like to know if any of you have this annoyance. Quote:
A RealBand RealBug?
We’ll only know if this happens to anyone else.
The Story – I have loaded 2012. I had this happen in RB 2011.5, and I thought I’d see if the same thing would happen in 2012. It did using the same SGU file.
I had completed an SGU file in BIAB with every track a RealTrack and marked frozen. I closed out BIAB, opened RB and used the "open" in File menu to imported my SGU file into RB.
As usual the first 8 tracks were 7 empty midi and 1 empty Audio. Tracks 9 to 15 were my frozen RT tracks all fine EXCEPT for the names of three of them which had appended J_SWING. What? The style sheet for the tune is CTRY BAL w/ped. Steel. The other 4 tracks had their correct names and RT numbers.
I don’t mind the lack of RT names but where did this J_SWING come from?
Am I the only one who has had this happen???? It has happened to me before once or twice. Looking forward to reading your answers.
Any similarities, guys? Happened to you, yet?
Thanks - Ian

Our late friend, Ray Thigpen, did a great video tutorial on Powertracks, which is still very relevant to Real Band. I have copies of the videos, but I don't know if anyone has a link that JCJazz could download from? The total files are 155MB, probably too large to email.

Thanks for posting that. It's typical of Ray's kindness - still helping people from the "other side". RIP our friend.
Cheers, Keith
