Hi
I have often read in these forums, create the basics of the song in BIAB then load into RB to 'finish' the song. I appreciate RB is basically a DAW, but it does have a lot of features of BIAB, like entering chords on the Chord Sheet then importing a BIAB Style.
Not sure if I'm missing something, but what is the advantage of using BIAB first before loading into RB and adding extra tracks and mixing, when the initial song can easily be created directly using RB.

it is a work flow issue for the most part. some folks like the DAW environment better. BiaB also does have a slightly better grasp on the BiaB type features, and it generates a tad faster, so for working out the kinks it does a great job. having said that i for the most part start and finish in RB. Not always, but mostly.
I did a song last night in BiaB because it does a bit better job from scratch on some things still. Where i like BiaB is where i am digging through the styls looking for the right one for a song.
I find that is where it save me time and effort. If I am bulding a song based on midi, or straight audio i work in Rb.

I like to get the chord structure finalized in BIAB, then transfer to RB for putting the finishing touches on it. One advantage to RB is that you can generate multiple solos (on separate tracks) over just the solo part of the song, then play each back and decide which one you want. BIAB only keeps one solo at a time.

Ralph, have you used the multiriff feature yet? I find it so accurate for solos, compared to just generating one. For some reason it nails it more often.

Hey, that's pretty cool! Thanks for the tip. I think I read about it, but never tried. Found me a new fiddle solo right off the bat. Would be nice to hear them along with the rest of the instruments, though, when trying each.

Hey Glen - as Rob says, it's your workflow that determines how you use these assets.
I always start in the BIAB chord sheet and try to complete as much of the song as possible in the BIAB chordsheet before moving to RB. The BIAB chord sheet offers so much more arrangement detail possibilities at each bar - RB's chord sheet is pretty simple by comparison, IMHO. In BIAB you can insert pushes, shots, holds, fills, tempo changes etc. and have more control over correcting them, for example.
I long for the day when the RB chord sheet allows the same ease of detail insert possibilities as BIAB.
Cheers - Ian

Gentlemen
Thank you for your helpful comments.
Ian
I wrongly assumed the Chord Sheet within BIAB and RB had the same functions available to each for constructing a song, which I why I decided to ask the question in this forum.
Thanks again guys, I now have a better understanding of why BIAB is better for initial song creation.
