Hi, maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe there's something wrong with my system, but the fact is that now, when I'm using two instances of the program and I try to copy/paste some chords from one into another, I just can't.

I'm not sure, but I believe that I've done this without problems on the past. I don't have any other computer now to try to replicate the problem in a different system, so it's just me?

Hi cerio,

That's normal behavior. BIAB does not allow pasting between instances a simple copy and paste.

The easiest way to get the chords into the second instance would be to save the file in the first instance and then open it in the second instance.

Regards,
Noel

Cerio,

Another way of getting the chords pasted into the second instance is to ...

1. In the first instance, use "File | Make Standard MIDI File" and create it using the "Clipbooard" button.

2. Now go to the second instance and choose "File | Open Special | Import chords from PG Music MIDI file on CLIPBOARD"

Hope this helps,
Noel

Hi - Just jumping in here with a question. From the answers so far, it would seem that there is no way to copy chords from selected measures of one file (not ALL measures), and some how pastes them into a second file. Only ALL the chords may be brought into the second file. Is that correct?

Thank you very much for your ideas, Noel, they work well; however it would be better if copy / paste between instances would work directly, so I'm going to make the request on the wishlist.

On my computer if you highlight a set of chords in Song 1 and do a Ctrl-C and load in the second song in the same instance of BIAB, pick the bar and do a Ctrl-V then the chords you copied originally will appear in the second song 2. That’s how I transfer chord sets.

Does this just work for chords or will it work for the melody also? I'm referring to a situation where you have both chords and melody in the same bars that you want to copy.

Also, do the bar settings get copied and pasted too?

Stan

I tried this:

1. Open biab file 1 and copy a section (including chords, style, and melody). Close file 1.
2. Open biab file 2 (or new file) and paste copied section from file 1. (from clipboard)

My result was that the chords copied, but nothing else. Also, if I go to the first copied bar and put in a style and hit play, there is no sound at all. Also, there are no notes in the lead sheet or notation window.

Looks like I'll be doing most of the stuff in Real Band or another DAW. I'm doing a medley and I hope that I can just get the different styles and chords into real band where I can add the melodies, tempos, and key changes. This has been quite frustrating so far.

Stan
