PowerTracks Pro Audio 2012 is availableUpgrade from any version for as little as $29! There are GUI improvements, such as: The Audio Edit window now shows events with background colors, the mouse scroll wheel in Tracks window will zoom in/out if hovering over the overview section, and the Horizontal Scroll bar on Tracks window now redraws the window as you drag the scrollbar (not waiting until you lift the mouse). PowerTracks setup has been simplified, and bootup time is faster - for example: The program no longer needs to show a "checking soundcard" function when being used for the first time, and it automatically hooks up to the Coyote GM Wavetable MIDI synth (if installed). There are new hotkeys, such as: 'Ctrl+NumPad Plus' for "Zoom In, 'Ctrl+NumPad Minus' for "Zoom Out", and 'Shift NumPad Plus' hotkey for "Zoom Selection" in the Tracks and Audio Edit windows. I've probaly asked this before . Is there any advantage to having PT2012 to play back SEQ files as opposed to just using RB? The only thing I can think of is that PT has less stuff on the screen so would fit better on my 15" laptop.I just hide the toolbar though.

From what I can tell, it looks like they have incorporated the new non-BIAB features from RB into PTPA 2012. If you have RealBand, then I don't think you need PTPA. It seems to me that PTPA is now marketed to the folks that just want a sequencer to handle audio and midi, but don't need the BIAB song generation features. It does support RealDrums (but not RealTracks) and it will open a BIAB file, but it will only extract the chord progression, the melody track, and the soloist tracks from it. It won't do anything with the other tracks.
I've got it, because a buddy of mine uses it and we collaborate together.

I love the new features in PT2012, but I'm disappointed that you still can't use a lower-case letter p when entering track names into the Classic Tracks Window - it inserts a part marker instead. I know it works ok in the new Tracks window, but it's a drag having to open and close a window just to name a track.
I don't want to be pedantic (p-dandic, get it?) but I did report this when it first appeared in PT2010. Any chance of a fix in build 2?

Sounds like a lot of good features... worth upgrading. Has anything been done about the VSTi compliance for the tempo lock feature? I would like to be able to drag and drop from EZdrummer the way it was intended. Thanks

I have PT11 and the Notation Window only supports 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 time signatures. Measures with any other time signature are drawn as blank measures. Does PT2012 support other time signatures in the Notation Window? Thanks in advance.

Note: Yep, lots of new functions in the audio editor.
But they "broke" one of the main functions that used to work fine!
You can no longer edit left OR right audio tracks! It's a glitch.
You can use the drop down menu and select only one track. You can highlight that one track for editing. (Increase volume, make EQ changes, or delete some/all of the one track.)
But when you hit the process (or delete) button, BOTH left and right are effected. You can't edit only one or the other audio track!!!! Even though it shows only one track highlighted, buth tracks are processed together.
I've been waiting since February for a fix. So far, 8 months, no one has made ANY fixes to 2012.
Very disappointing.

Hi, Harpmeister -
Your post is a little confusing. Are you talking about two separate tracks panned differently, or are you talking about a single track that is designated as a stereo track? If the first, I've never had a problem processing each track separately. If the latter, you CAN'T separately process the left and right channels of the track without first breaking the stereo track out into two separate mono tracks (which you can pan hard left and right to preserve the stereo).
Please help us better understand what's going on with your bug report. This is the first I recall hearing of this.

RE: you CAN'T separately process the left and right channels
That's my point. You could before 2012. And you're supposed to be able to now.
To edit one of the two stereo tracks . . .
Dbl click on an audio track. Or click on the audio editor window icon. The audio window pops up. It has two "tracks". Left (on top) and right (on the bottom).
There's a track select field/drop down. Open it. There you select . . .
Left track only, right track only, or both tracks.
This selection determins whether you edit one, or both tracks.
Select LEFT track only.
Now you're supposed to be able to edit just the left audio track.
So you can tweak it, delete parts of it. EQ or change volume. Etc. Without changing the other track.
Let's say you want to delete the left track so there's no audio data in the track. (Why? you ask! For one thing, your .seq file will be a LOT smaller if you clean out what you don't need. Many of my .seq files are between 350G and 900G. It alsao improves the sound of your backing track if you remove all that unused data.
BTW: I also delete any audio where nothing is recorded. Like if you have one track with a drum fill. And that fill is used just once, or a few times. And the rest of the track is just "empty". It might be empty. But that doesn't mean it's clean. I delete all the audio in between those fills. Or if one track is a guitar solo. And there's nothing before the solo or after it but dead space. I delete all of that, too.
So, in the drop down, you select "Left only". Then you hit the "select whole track" button. Now the entire left (and only left) track is highlighted. Now either hit "delete" on your keyboard, or hit the "cut" icon. BAM! Both tracks are gone!
I've been doing this for years. Never had an issue until 2012 came out. And Tech support (who first told me I was doing something wrong!) tried it while I was on the phone.
I got a long . . . "Hmmmmmmmmmm. I'll have to report this. It's a glitch!"

Thanks, Wayne -
I responded in the other post and confirmed that I got the same thing. I suggest sending another note to PGMusic referencing these threads. It might get their attention since it applies to both PTPA and RealBand.
