Hi,
I have RealBand 10.5. I'm trying to get the count in to be in my wav file mixdown. I don't see a place to tell RealBand to have the count in, in the mixdown. Some forum posts say it's in the render option, I don't see the word render anywhere with my version. I've been doing the " Merge audio and DXI Tracks to Audio Wave File" under the Audio section. Is this the wrong way to do it and if it's not how do you get the count in on the mixdown?
Thanks,

Hello Gary,
If your generated song (.seq) doesn't have the count-in, then maybe you have the bar offset set to 0 for that song? You'll need to add the count-in before rendering to stereo wave file. There are a number of ways you can do this. Here is one way.
To insert 2 bars at the beginning of the song, use the 'Edit menu | Insert Blank bars into song'. Next, click the [Song Set] button and make sure Silent count-in is not selected. Highlight the first 2 bars on a blank track, right-click, and generate RealDrums, choosing one in a similar feel/tempo to your song.

Hi,
"and generate RealDrums, choosing one in a similar feel/tempo to your song. "
Are you saying to use RealDrums as a count in click track? If so is there a RealDrum wav that is 1-2-1234 ? that is like stick against the side of the snare or a closed hi-hat
I found a style called clicktrk.sty on the net but not sure if that can be used.
Thanks, G

Hi, Yes, you could use the count-in from RealDrums. Most of them are 1-2-1234. Or you could use a MIDI count-in .... e.g. highlight first two bars of a blank track, right-click | Generate MIDI track | Drums. You could customize the click track (if it's MIDI) by double-clicking on the track to open the notation window - then toggle into editable notation mode and move the notes around (on the MIDI drum channel 10, different notes are different drum sounds). clicktrk.sty is just a style that is nothing but a metronome. If you want to open it in RealBand you can do this by clicking the [...] button to the right of where you normally click to open the stylepicker.

Hi,
When I audition a drum track I hear the count in, but when it's put into the tracks it's no longer there? Is there a setting that is keeping this from happening?
I created a midi track and rearranged the notes like you said. Seems like I could do that in drum roll also but I can't seem to write in there, how do you insert notes in the drum roll or can you?
Thanks,

If you have the bar offset at -2, and don't have silent count-in checked, it should generate the count-in If you mean the Drum audio track (RealDrum track)... yes, you can edit it, but it is alot different than editing MIDI. To move the drum clicks around, open the audio edit window and zoom in to one of the clicks by pressing the [+] buttons. You can select a bit the waveform, then copy and paste it somewhere else.

HI Andrew,
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions. It works perfectly doing the -2 and the song settings.
I realized I used the wrong terms for the drum roll, I meant to ask about editing the drum midi in the piano roll feature. I can't seem to enter notes there. Is the 2 ways to edit midi notes in the drum roll or do it in the notation window edit feature. Unless there is another way.
The count in with the drum real track will get me going, it's good to know these other ways to edit because there's a couple of bass midi tracks I would like to edit.
Gary

Yes, the Piano Roll window is an alternative way to insert/edit MIDI data. To insert a note, hold down shift+ctrl while clicking.
It is more intuitive (than the editable notation window) for people who don't read music notation, and has some more powerful features. For example, in the controller pane, you could draw in volume curves by selecting controller 7, and holding ctrl+shift while dragging.
Some additional info on selecting notes:
- Selected notes are Red. - Click on individual notes to select. - Shift+click on individual notes to add to the selection. - Ctrl+click on a note to invert (toggle) its selection. - Click on white space and then drag a rectangle around notes to select a group of notes.
