Hi Guys,

I recently posted a question in the Tips and Tricks forum as I didnt know where to ask

I have always thought this particular forum was for technical questions about windows BinaB or generic issues with how to do things in the programme

My question was very specific about trying to make a backing track for a specific song

I suppose I was thinking that with all the thousands of users around the world, that someone might have come across this song and worked out a good way to do it

Perhaps there is no current forum to swap this sort of information and in fact it may be that most of you use BinaB to compose new material anyway

Anyway I have copied the question below with """ around it

"""I'm not too sure where to post this question so apologies if this is not the right place

I use BinaB windows for making backing tracks for a small jazz ensemble--Saxes, Clarinet, Flute, sometimes Trumpet

I use Ultrapluspak 2012 now

I though I had everything sorted for choosing a style that would suit anything the group wanted to play --I have done over 150--but after doing this for 5 years I have finally come unstuck

A jazz "classic" called "Comin Home Baby"

This is the youtube link to the Herbie Man version which is what I'm trying to get close to--its got a very long intro

http://youtu.be/jiCV4Xna684

The sheet music says "Soul Jazz" whatever that means--I felt it had a slightly latin feel but cant get anything to work

Has anyone by any chance made a track for this--Bass, Drums, Elec or Acoustic piano

My hair is going greyer by the day"""

Again if this is the wrong place then my apologies

Is there actually a better forum to ask this sort of question??--or perhaps no one else thinks there is a need for one

Tx

This is the right forum, I found a midi file link. Don't know if it's any good but it may be a start. You might make a 4 bar song with a few chords to demo styles so it will load the test style fast. I double click a style to preview a short test song and if it doesn't work you still have the style picker open and go to the next style. If you can nail the original style down to Latin the search function will show all available. The "G" button beside the search button will search again without the popup.

Wow, that sure is a long question for "..anyone got "Comin Home Baby" "

Its a minor blues tune so the chords should be easy to figure. Just got to get the vibe. My guys play this all the time... Let me look - it has to be in one of the standard fake book versions of BIAB.

BIAB – 2025, Reaper (current), i7-12700F Processor, 32GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, 1TB WD Black NVMe SSD, 2TB WDC Blue SSD, 1TB WD Blue, 2 TB SK NVMe, 6 TB External, Motu Audio Express 6x6

Got it.
Comin Home Baby

What other "standards" are you missing?

Wow Guys!!!

That was fast

Rhumba as the basic background rhythm is fine--I was going through all the Latin Realstyles I have and they all seemed much too "busy"

Please accept all out little groups thanks for sorting it out so quickly

Regards

You could edit a midi style to liking with a little effort.

Hi Tommy

Actually the Stylemaker is something I have never tried to use as I have always found everything I wanted in the current BinaB styles

Time to read the book and have a play perhaps

Thanks to you and Jazzmandan for your help

Phil
