I know GDaddy is in S. Florida or at least he was, he hasn't posted here in a few months. You could send him a PM.

Thank you SO much. I have a version of Europa on YouTube. I just discovered he played with Santana who I'm sure would approve. Many on YouTube seem to like it a lot. It's only been posted for a few months -- it has 4,600 views.

I'm not in south Florida ...yet soon I hope. Hey Bob , Good points on RB functionality . And I'll stipulate equivalent audio quality. The features I like in SONAR are mostly workflow Keybinding is nice...make ur custom short cuts.. for example,I have s toggling the snap on & off, and the number keys setting snap resolution. Another is track folders...I group the individual drum voices into a folder...matter of fact the "add new VSTI instance" dialog offers to do it for u. Track sub groups are nice while on the subject of grouping . Later.in mixing I group tracks and attach em to a single fader its different than locking all tracks to a group because the sub lets u change members of the sub without detatching from the group and reattaching after tweak. I like loop efx....generic verb on a send rather than every track withits own instance (RB may well do that...dunno ) I like assigning double click to a view...midi double opens eventlist sometimes and other times I set it to piano roll. I like dockable windows and a single key to open and close the dock The envelope editing by clips or tracks is nice too...I don't see where I can select clips with a click in RB either. You're right...long time SONAR use has bred familiarity ,but that aside I think many of my quirks of flow are SONAR-only.

Oh yah....controlsurface. I have SONAR basically run from the sliders and transport of my deck. Pretty sure RB isn't control surfacing yet either.

Yep, easily done
RB also does subgroups, but I'm not sure how you are using them from your description.

Hey cool.....u inspired ne to dig deeper...found both under mixer. I need to spend more time with that window open. Very cool Thx Another thing I'd like to see is choices on how to stop. That is,choose between "stop here" or "stopand rewind to where I started" And some additional visual alignment (vertical. Line) when draggging.clips. And as long as I'm making unreasonable requests ,the whole drag&drop visual and speed behind the scenes needs to be firmed up...a bit quicker. lotta depth to RB

The speed behind the scenes thing is deceptive. A lot of softwares act like they do edits very fast and it makes the workflow seem fast but when you go to save the final project it can take many minutes because it's cleaning out the cache of temp files from all those edits. RB doesn't do that, it does all that in real time so when you go to save at the end the saving is very fast. I compared this function with Adobe Audition and the overall time is about the same after Audition finished with what it calls "flushing temp files". One project Audition took over 10 minutes to save. I left my computer and went and made a sandwich and it was still flushing when I got back. RB basically spreads that 10 minutes all throughout your work as you do it so the workflow 'seems' slower.
I'm not saying one way is better than another just a different way of handling the same process. Of course the faster your machine the quicker all this happens.

Set the cursor where you want it for reference (like aligned with the bass drum hit exactly) by using the 'timeline' part of a window. This will set a line, which is the 'Now' point. Go to the bass track and highlite the section (inside the wave form so you don't mocve the cursor) .. Then drag the bass to line up with the cursor (bass drum) Using higher resolution and zoom settings this can be accurate down to about 1/3840th of a beat.. using the Audio Edit window allows the cursor to remain set between tracks and exact dragging to be done. The key is to set the cursor placement using the time line (in either Tracks window or Audio Edit) then select the section avoiding the timeline area of the given window, and using the graphic display area. Then you have a pretty exact reference between tracks.
Personally I think the drag time is affected by video driver and available resources. Some machines drag and display quickly, while others get the hourglass (or spinning) 'wait for me' icon.

I'm rharv and I approve this message.
I didn't think I broke much around here, but one time a newbie blamed a problem on something I suggested. However, if you looked up in the thread, I wasn't the one who said it to begin with. But I got blamed.
So a prankster went around here and blamed other things on me that day; before I got up and made coffee I was responsible for all kinds of things, often ridiculous. So everything became my fault.
I'm OK with that. He's a funny guy, and a good person.

I was extremely shocked to hear about your part in the Lincoln assassination....
So is it just you and robh that go back and forth, or does everybody blame you for everything now?

The priority to which I refer would prevent the interruption to playback and the bigtime window if u touch ANYTHING while the audio is playing. I get a "buzzzz" if I touch the screen w/ the mouse during playback...doesn't happen with Sonar. Its not a big deal...I just stop playback before I do anything...and in gigs I'll be using a footswitch that rarely interupts playback (but sometimes it does ) Thx for the tip on setting "now" before I drag. :-)
