PowerMac G5 / Powerbook G4 / Binab V12 Build 31
My G4 Powerbook has finally died which unleashes a variety of alarmingly expensive upgrade options - I've trawled through endless posts trying to clarify whether once I've upgraded to an intel Desktop Mac I could substitute an iPad for the Powerbook?
Specifically - can the iPad run Binab ?
If Realtracks are a problem for the iPad can you set Binab to use the Quicktime or built in midi tracks which are less memory hungry?
Categoric answers much appreciated - and if the answer is 'no' - MacBook Air or Powerbook?

The iPad does NOT run Band in a Box. You can generate audio files with it to play on your iPad, but that is it. You could also maybe put the audio and midi into Garageband for Mac or iPad and use it that way.
Apple doesn't make a Powerbook anymore. Hasn't since like 2006 maybe? All the Intel macs are MacBooks or MacBook Pros. PowerBook is a G4 computer. It will not run the current Band in a Box.
I'd suggest either getting a MacBook air or MacBook and then getting Band in a Box on the separate hard drive and run it off of there. The program and real tracks take something like 70 gigs or so......

Thanks for the reply Eric, you've confirmed my suspicions. I was talking about my 9 year old powerbook G4 & G5 Powermac hence the expensive upgrade path for Intel Macs and Binab, (don't even mention graphics software)
The good news is that I must have improved as a musician as I now play in a couple of groups with real people - when we started we did use Binab backing tracks.
All improvements entirely due to Band in a Box which in my view is a superb learning tool making learning really enjoyable. Perceived limitations in the program are more likely to be because you've improved as a musician!
I think for the moment I will nurse my existing set up which has served me so well - now, back to Nica's Dream.
