Generated a song but there are greyed out bars between near end of song and the "end" bar. I would like to add some chords to these bars but cannot.
Changing the number of bars does not "ungrey" them.
Is there something I am overlooking? (I have tried with "freeze" as well as "unfrozen" but no good.

Yeah, this bugs me too. I keeps me from "cleaning up" the song.

Hi Bob,

It sounds like you have "Opt | Preferences | Display" set to "new line every part marker". This is the default setting and it's the way that I personally prefer BIAB to display my chord progression. But that's just me. Try turning it off and see if you like the result better.

The greyed out regions mid-song are simply a way of visually showing sections. They are not actually bars. The greyed out bars after the end of the song are bars that extend beyond the song's length.

If you want to add bars mid-song (i.e. before the ending), click on "Edit | Insert Bars"

If you want to add bars at the end of the song, increase the number of bars the song contains. In the image below, my song has 98 bars.

Hope this helps,
Noel

Thanks. That helped a lot.
I am going to start going through a lot of menu items with a sample tune to learn about the many menu items.

Bob,

One thing that I forgot to mention is that any of these changes must be done with unfrozen tracks. The whole purpose of "Freeze" for tracks is that changes can no longer be made.

All the best,
Noel

Noel, this reminds me of something that's been bugging me but not enough to start a new thread. I also like the "new line for every section" most of the time but, if I change something structual like adding a repeat or tag ending that goes away. Example, a tune with a long complex head part that's 39 bars followed by a standard 16 bar solo section. Then after the solo's it goes back to the head and jumps to a tag halfway through. In the original version of the song, the person wrote it all out as one long chorus and wrote out 48 bars for the solo's but I wanted to loop the solo section and not be limited to playing it 3 times. When I put in a repeat for the solo's the "new line" thing went away. Now the solo section starts on bar 3 of the display and looks very awkward. It plays and loops fine, just looks bad. No matter what I do I can no longer get it to use a new line at a part marker. I tested this with another song and the same thing. As soon as I create a tag, no more new line. Is that normal?

Bob

I got the same problem last week so I'd like the answer to that one too.

But isn't this a separate issue?
