New thread to focus on the Juke box:
I know a lot of people here use RBs Juke Box. I have no experience with it except in playing around to see how it works. I recently bought a 3 pedal USB footswitch for use with JukeBox so I can stop, start and advance songs in a gig setting without using the mouse.
After much searching I could find NO documentation on keyboard shortcuts for this app. The only thing I found was on the buttons, where an underlined letter indicates the possibility of using it as a key shortcut.
apparently "r" = start, "p" = stop, and "space" actuates the last button that was clicked. So if you start off by clicking the NEXT button, from then on SPACE performs the NEXT function.
But I noticed that sometimes the hot keys don't work the way I just described, and I couldn't isolate a reason that explains how I got off track.
If anybody who has experience using RBs juke box with a USB foot switch can chime in and tell me what I'm doing wrong so that the button functions change, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Me and this other dude have been complaining that the SPACE bar (fairly common START mechanism) doesn't work well in the Jukebox.. That is, if you use the space bar to STOP the jukebox you get "kicked out" of Juke box mode. At that point starting and stopping will ONLY happen in the current song', no advance to the next jukebox song will happen.
You CAN use the SPACE bar to start a Jukebox song, but you HAVE to let it finish. If you stop it, you're outta Juke box & the SPACE bar resorts to starting & stopping THAT song only.
Well.....on to YOUR thread's discovery......r and p donj't work at all. BUT....the START button DOES work in the Jukebox if you use the mouse. So you can stop the song, and if you restart by mousing the START button, the jukebox will show in the title bar, and the next song will load & play.
So in conclusion; the r and p keys don't work at all in Jukebox (if stopped, r starts the RECORD function :-/ ) Space starts a jukebox song from the beginning. If allowed to proceed to the end the next song loads & space can start it, etc.... Space will stop playback of the song in jukebox, but restarting that song w/ space will NOT advance to the next juke song...you're stuck The only way to restart a stopped Juke song is to hit ttthe Start button in the Juke window. (although, to restate: space can start a juke song from the beginning without hosing up the juke box functionality)
I hope this clarified your correct observation that the Juke box is seriously flawed......although I appreciate learning the new knowledge that mousing the start button on the Juke window will restart the juke process.....
Keep in mind that the word Jukebox will appear in the title bar of the program window when the jukebox is properly active.
Regarding the Footpedal..... I have SPACE, "a" and "b" programmed. The Space starts the songs......I have "Dont Start" selected in the jukebox ....I start w/ the spacebar footpedal I keep the conductor window open....the "a" loops the current chorus, and "b" shuts off the loop.
What I wish is that they'd make the "a" a toggle that turns loop chorus on & off......then the third pedal could do sumpin else..... That all works ok, but ya gotta let the song finish or jukebox goes off.

Guys the shortcuts just do not work right. I've been using the JB live for almost 2 years and I have to use the mouse. What I do though is keep the cursor over the "start" button then once the song stops I just need to tap the mouse pad.

I agree that if you open the JB, check the stop after each song and then click on the start button from then on the space bad can be used but the r&p shortcuts are messed up.And everything else about the short cuts.

Interesting that each of our experiences with juke box have been different. I've actually had pretty good repeatability with "r" and "p" as stop and start... but only if I set the stage by clicking the NEXT button right off the bat (thereby skipping my first song)
After that I can stop, start or skip ahead to the next song without incident, as long as I only do those 3 things. If Use any of the buttons, it changes everything and my keyboard shortcuts don't work anymore.
I am NOT using the conductor... only Juke Box.

Pat, Actually are experiences are exactly the same. The JB shortcuts are messed up and inconsistent.

I must have misunderstood. After re-reading , the recurring theme is inconsistency (sometimes works, but not always)
I remember you had a long thread about the juke box earlier this year which never got resolved to your complete satisfaction. Has the juke box been discussed in beta testing?

Yes we have and all the issues were addressed except those shortcuts. The JB works very well otherwise. I never use those shortcuts. It's just as easy to use the mouse pad but now with those USB foot switches those shortcuts are important.I seem to remember though that they used to work. Maybe someone can back up from build 6 to an earlier version and see if that's the issue.

yeahhh.. I could do that I suppose.. but I suffer from installation madness syndrome. I really hate to mess with an installation that basically works, and has all the updates. I think I'll hang loose until the next release and see if the shortcuts work predictably in that version. I won't be using the footswitch live anytime soon anyway.
Thanks for your input John
PS.. are you playing live anymore? sometime later this year I would like to come hear you play a gig.

I had to stop playing when my wife's health got to the point that I couldn't leave her. And then the last member of the family, my dog Lucy, took a turn for the worse as well and I've been caring for her. Today I performed the last act of kindness for her and sent her off to be with my wife and other dog Norton. Now I'm totally alone and in deep despair.I hope to try & slowly crawl out of the hole but it's a tough journey alone.Getting back out playing will be my first step.
