Dang! Isn't anybody gonna respond to this. This lady can sing Mates. Graham. I thought for sure you would know who she is. Of course, she is Irish, not Scottish.

Hi Russ, Yes, she is a big name in a thriving Irish Country Music Scene. Quite a few others well worth a listen! Regards, Joe G.

Patience grasshopper! The weather is nice and warm up north here so we spend a lot of time outdoors!

Yes, this lady can sing country. She reminded me of Patsy Cline! She is that good!

Thanx for sharing.

My wife had her driving test today.
She got 8 out of 10.
The other 2 jumped out of the way!

Russ, sorry mate been pretty darned busy here. Yeah I know Louise and have met her personally. Lovely lady and a great voice. I did a very enjoyable interview with Louise a few years ago. I love the Irish country singers as they tend to have a more tradional country feel to their music. Have a look on you tube for others like Daniel O' Donnell, Mary Duff, Dominic Kirwan, Declan Nerney, Anne Breen, Bridie Gallagher, but to name a few ! Keep a listen out on my radio shows for Irish singers, at least one included each show.

Russ, thanks to Graham's radio show, I discovered Isla Grant and fell madly in love with her sweet voice. She is from Scotland although mis-labeled on YouTube as an Irish singer. I made a playlist of her YT songs, about 20 total, and there is not a clunker in a carload. One, in particular, that cleared my tear-ducts is "Keeper Of My Heart", a beautiful love song for the woman in every man's heart. Give it an ear squint and I think that you will agree. Isla (say EYE-la) has a fresh style and very refreshing voice. If she also wrote the lyrics then she is also a genius songstress who knows how to reach into the chest and grab the heart and not let it free.

Isla DID write that song keeper of my heart. In fact she writes a heck of a lot of her own material. She's a VERY popular singer in Australia as well as Scotland & Ireland.
Have a listen on my NEXT show due out within the next day or so for a fairly local singer, called Nikki McKay. I'd the pleasure of seeing her perform live last week with her band and had a lovely chat afterwards. She gave me a cd of hers and I think you'll enjoy hearing Nikki as well.

Graham, if she is half as good as Isla then I am anxious to hear Nikki McKay.

Fair warning: Isla is a tough act to follow.

Will you please post here when your new show is available?

This is my kind of country shuffle!

Can anybody point me in the direction of a style/realtrack that can produce a walking bass like this ?

My main instruments are guitar and pedal steel, but I do play a fair bass as well, but I couldn't keep it as consistent as this.

Ole

Don she's a lot better than you give her credit for. Isla has the backing of some some of the best musicians in the country and some of the best recording wizards out there.
I'd love to hear Nikki & Isla with the same backing & the same equipment without the tweaks.

I had thought, silently, that Nikki's backing was very weak but it's Isla's lyrics and delivery that won me wee Oyrish 'art. Nobody has been able to strum me 'artstrings so mercilessly EVER! One may argue that the theme gets repetitious but that theme has been a curative salve that I seem to have needed lately.

No defamation intended to Nikki. I'm guessing she's comparatively new to the game and still looking for her own "identity," nothing wrong with that. Perhaps, just possibly, her trash-canning the covers would be a shortcut to that end. Doing covers force comparison with the original artist that very few can stand up to. My wee Oyrish advice: Get some original songs and blow the world's socks off. Warning: Hold your kilts down! Please!

chances are Don she hasn't got the same financial backing that Isla does. As most of you know making a good quality cd ISN'T cheap, I know from experience that you try & rush it a bit to save some greenbacks.
