I've decided it's time to drag myself into the modern world by ditching my old Nokia for something a bit more up to date. The big question is, where does the future lie, iPhone or Android?

So what are you all using and do you have any music apps that I might find interesting?

ROG.

Hi Rog,

I have an Android phone and like it a lot (for phone stuff), but if you want to use your phone for music, I'd go for the iPhone. There are a lot more music apps available for iOS than Android, and it'll probably stay that way for quite a while.

Hope this helps.

I spent quite some time on this decision for my business. The two platforms were very close in many respects, both had reasonably significant pros and cons that pretty much balanced each other. In the end I went with iPhones, BUT my primary reason may not be relevant to you:

If you want to buy apps, on the Android app store you ONLY have the option of giving google your credit card details which they will have on file forever... On the Apple app store you can bypass the credit card requirement and use gift/itunes cards instead.

I consider this a much more secure approach. That way when they get hacked again your credit card details won't be on file and can't be stolen (at least from that source).

I am using smartphones for quite sone years now. These where all HTC Windows based phones. They did a good job, but in that time finding usefull apps was a challenge. Also a pricy hobby. Nowadays all platforms have their own appstores, so that is less of a problem.

You might want to check out the pricing of the apps you're interested in. I've heard that the Android versions are more expensive, but I'm not sure.

I use an iPhone for 1,5 years now, and I must say it is the best, most stable and most fun phone I ever had. Should this one wear out, my next phone will be a new iPhone.

Rog,

I use a Blackberry - because it's Canadian, and I like to support my neighbours.

If you are thinking Android, however, keep in mind that the Google software was originally developed in co-operation with the open-source (Linux) community - therefore, a dual-core Android phone will operate with an integrated Linux operating system like this:

And remember, Ubuntu software is free, and constantly being upgraded...

just looking for clues...

A month ago I would have said iPhone. Today I say Droid. I love this new phone, and the apps are easy to find. I have yet to look for one app and not find something to do what I want.

FYI it's an HTC One X. Big, bright display. Easy interface WITHOUT something as shackling as iTunes.
