Mario, There's a very usable freebie mellotron vsti. I've used it in several songs and always got the "That sounds like the Beatles" comments on the songs - particularly the flute patch. http://www.tweakbench.com/tapewormDon't let the ultra-simple interface fool you. Very realistic mellotron vibe oozes from this thing. Free.

BTW - here's a kid's song I did about cleaning one's room, which uses the Tapeworm mellotron on the flute patch. I've done a shorter intro but don't have it online.

It is/was worth $5 for entire tweakbench bundle - even if ALL I ever use use is the mellotron VSTi. Of course now I can add the samples (comes with bundle for the $5) of the Mellotron onto my Fusion (which already had some good ‘tron libraries) , Motif, XV/XR, QSR/8,…
