What does Normalize actually does? When I record a bass line using Audio Record the final result was very silent. When I run Audioeffects -> Normalize there was more energy and result was much fuller. Let say it is 'audible' after normalize.

The simple answer is that Normalize looks at your entire WAV form, calculates distance from the highest peak to 0dB (the point at which clipping occurs), and then raises everything by that amount. Of course, if there is noise on the track, the noise gets raised, too.
One thing to be careful of with normalize, however, is that it only takes one loud spike to keep the rest of the track from increasing.

Thank you for the explanatory answer. Anything else usable that could be run together with Audio Record especially concerning bass recording? Mixing is another matter and do not relate to this question.
However, it seems that my timing is the crucial factor. Sound card has AUDIO CREATION MODE option, which has
(Auto wah, chorus, compessor, distortion, flanger, Parametric EQ, Pitch Shifter, Vocal Morpher). So far I have recorded without any effects. Should I use a little bit soundcard effects? RealBand has the very same effects for mixing phase.

As John says, one loud spike can keep the whole track quiet. If you check the box for POST PEAK LIMIT, you can then enter a GAIN CHANGE value which will increase the level of the track whilst flattening out the peaks. It's a form of compression which we call upward limiting.
Personally, I would continue recording without effects and just apply these as you mix. This way you keep your choices open right to the end.

As ROG said, keep it dry. That's what effects are for. Once you record with an effect, it's there to stay. Record it dry and you can apply any effect you want and change around later. That way, you can make sure, for example, that it doesn't sound like the vocals and the accompaniment were recorded in two different places and spliced together.
