It seems realtracks can't be erased from songs. The same is true regarding loops. I've been putting up with this by just muting the track, but unmuting and muting realtracks during a gig is a pain.
I know can turn them on and off with the alt f5 dropdown, but I want to delete unused realtracks to shorten compiling times, and also, just to keep things simple.
Is there a way of doing this?

Well if it is compiling time that concerns you then you cna freeze the muted track. Otherwise, the certianly should be a way to totally remove the RT. Must be in a menu somewhere Hang tight someone (I think we know who) will jump in .

When I develop new songs, I re-compile, so the time element is still important.

If you right click on say soloist under the menu bar there is an option to erase track.
Does this not do what it says?

I may be totally off base here but . . . why not just silence/mute the realtrack where you want it to "not play" using the F5 function? I use this function to arrange tunes I play on gigs twice a week with no issues. This way you can tell the realtrack where to play, when to play, change it's volume or not play at all.
If not try disabling the real track by 1st opening the real track selection window, then clicking (around the middle of the top 1/3 of the screen) Disable real tracks for this track (force midi).

I guess I like the simplicity of just erasing the track when not needed. Also, when developing a song, a re-compile can take twice as long.

Also, on a gig, I like visual confirmation that only the tracks that I want to play will play, in case I overlook turning off the track.

Jazzman, In 2012.5, there's the option to disable a track. It's accessed by right-clicking on the name of a track.  When a track has been disabled, it saves with the MGU/SGU file. It also turns grey so that it's visually obvious that the track is not engaged. Maybe your version of BIAB has this. Regards, Noel
