Do you think PG should provide a generation server for BIAB registered users using BIAB mobile?
Surely This is easy to implement?
I'm in France with my iPad and want to adjust the tempo a little, my BIAB installation computer is 3000 miles away in Saudi and is "off"
If I could connect to a global server to regenerate my track I for one would be so impressed!

Probably not...but many may be "out of their bedrooms" since you posted your question! (-:

I run BIAB off the usb hard drive so I can just plug it in to any puter I happen to have with me anywhere in the world.

I find it an excellent idea, specially for the android / iphone versions of the program. You should post it on the wishlist.

Please forgive a dumb question...I don't own a tablet/pad....But can't usb hard drives be connected to them?

Personally, I would FAR rather have PG spending its time and development budget on music-oriented features when the "use BIAB on the road" issue seems to me (with apologies if I'm wrong somehow) to be entirely solved by having BIAB on a portable usb drive.

Also, I would place my "risk of failure" bet squarely in favor of a usb drive (or two)...instead of on accessing a remote server where connection speeds or outright failures would be a real issue.

Just my 2 cents.

Best,
Jim

Yes, you can connect USB drives to most tablets, but you can't run BIAB from the USB, and you can't use the WMA files on the USB drive to generate Realtracks, since it's not supported by the current Android / Ipad version of BIAB. Actually, BIAB for Android / Ipad don't have any generation capability and need a connection with a BIAB server to being able to generate tracks.

Too many thorny copywriter issues involved.

The day of the tablet computer is SOON. The speed needed to run the present software on something that is book sized, and has massive storage approaches.

When they become lighter and have more flexibility all will just happen. No need for phone software, the thing will become 'all things.'

Windows 8 or 9 for sure will have all we need.

As you sit in front of what will seem like a music stand the only problem is to ensure the sound is off when between sets (intermission) you will take a call, a video call.

That beats intermission at the former Russian count's venue where they had serf musicians in the early 1700's. Beat is the operative word, as he had a huge whip on the wall, and if the music didn't meet his approval he beat them.

Would that be at 60 or 80 bpm? The downbeat would be painful. How could you be upbeat?
I suspect a few serf types grew hair that was longer and wanted to pluck instruments and sing about a hard day's night. Wow, times have not really changed?

Thanks Cerio. NOW I understand the request for a generation server!

Cool! Glad I didn't have to but in! Lol! A server would be easy to set up and surely some sort of verification can be set up! It's not like the mobile App users are pirates!
