Is there a way to "slow down" a bluegrass realtrack so that it can be used in a country song. For example, I am working on a CD project for a client that is all new compositions. He has one song in which I'm using the Memphis Swing Fast Style at 196 bpm. I'd like to use a banjo playing rhythm such as style #589. I cannot figure out a way to "slow" this track down so that it can be used. I'd appreciate any help. Also, I believe it would be a good upgrade for RealBand if the bluegrass instruments could be used in other styles such as country.
Thanks JMK

JMK, If you have Memphis Swing as a style and you want Scott Vestal for rhy. banjo, first 1.right click guitar,2.choose assign Real Tracks,3.First choose half time in the small box to the right, then in the filter type Scott Vestal,4.Update,select Scott Vestal #589,5.generate track,6.the track will generate and return to the chord page. Press play and you are good to go. Hope this helps. It works, because I tested it. Leon

There's a little confusion at times about this 1/2 time double time. 1/2 time means it plays in half the time it normally would AKA faster double time means it takes twice as long to play aka slower.

John, In the example I explained for JML, I was correct to select half time. A banjo played @ 100bpm in a memphis swing style is smoking right along. If you select double time, well give it a listen reguards leon

Leon, You are correct. Sometimes you need 1/2 time & sometimes double. I was just pointing out the thought process that sometimes gets confused.

Silvertones,
Thanks for the information...I'm afraid that in my thought process I was 180 degrees off. I assumed (you know about that) that double time meant "twice as fast" and half time meant "half the normal speed". What is the use for the "train" styles in country or country gospel as that is what I'm involved mostly. How would these styles be used in normal country , or, are they intended to be used in this way. Again thanks for the help from both of you on this issue. I'll bet there are many people out there who don't realize the information and help available from the forums! Now I'm going to set and try to internalize this double time and half time concept!
JMK

John, we are both correct. Try this for grins: Bobby McGee using M_TRAINJ Train Beat Band w. Piano(130mst).Tempo@130,1 chours,120 bars. throw in #602 harmonica, soloist train ev 130 here and there and hold on. leon

Are two people both correct when they agree that they are both wrong?

In BiaB, there are 8th note based styles (typical tempo = 140), and 16th note based styles (typical tempo=70).
Whenever you use a style in BB, you should be aware if it is a 16h note or 8th note based style you are looking for. Our bluegrass styles are 16th note based (in this case, the tempo is typically fast, so it might be 110-140, but still 16th note based.
We do have a 8th note based Bluregrass style, then you'd be playing tempos in the 220-280 range.
Have Fun! Peter Gannon PG Music Inc.
