Peter: It seems to me the time is here to combine BIAB and Real Band as one program. I use them both extensively and it would make life easier to using them both at the same time instead of starting a song in BIAB and then closing the program and importing it into Real Band. Since the two programs come bundeled together it would make life much better to have them as one instead of two different but similar programs.

Why? What would be the advantage? You can use RealBand like BiaB, creating tracks, etc...so I guess I am missing something...

I know you can use Real Band to generate the different styles...I would just like some of the features of BIAB to be combined with Real Band or visa versa. Fopr example... in BIAB when you load a new style and hit play it automatically regenerates the song....In RB you first have to generate the new tracks then hit play.
I like the favorite song and style adjacent to title window in BIAB....There are just a few minor adjustments that to me would make it more effective as one program rather than two

Just from observing the forums here, you can surmize that there are more people who want to stick to the DAW they're used to than those who are will to switch to RB while continuing to arrange the backing track exclusively in BIAB, then drop the WAVs to their fav DAW. I am one of those.
I dunno... maybe make it a third software offering for those who want it, but I wouldn't want to see this all in one replacing what is now known as BIAB 2013.
Cheers and Happy New Year!

Another –1 for the all in one idea. There are a lot of us who do not use RB as our main DAW.
However if PGMusic offered a BiaB/RB merged product as well as a BiaB alone product then that would satisfy both camps.
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

Well, we have been through this before. When there was PowerTracks, some requested that it should be combined with BIAB. That resulted in RealBand.
However, instead of creating some new program, I wonder what can RealBand do that BIAB cannot? One feature I would love to have in BIAB is the ability to regenerate part of a track, as you can do in RealBand. If that were added to BIAB, I dont think I would have any reason to load RealBand, since like others here, I use another DAW that I know well. Are there other such critical differences?
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Presonus Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

At least one active member of these fora has explained that he does everything in RB. From his description it seems that RB is already the same as having BiaB and RB be 'one program.' This is not the way I work, but the 'one program' idea works for him.
I like having the two separate. I use BiaB first, then port over to RB. Sometimes after moving to RB I will open BiaB to generate a Realtrack or two, to be added to the project which is now in RB. The new track might have a few chord subs or something.
So here is a case where having separate programs works for me.

The point to me is that while these programs are very similar each one has some unique qualities that work better than the other.
Clearly the biggest advantage of RB for me is being able to add various Real Tracks or midi track at measures I want and being able to easily delete any parts of tracks I don't want in the final mix.
However BIAB is much easier in being able to change keys in parts of the song; making copies of measures; add an intro to a song ect.
Right now I do my intial work in BIAB... import to RB where I add various instruments... mix it down and then import it into Sonar where I do my vocals and final mix...
The process is not overly time consuming but for me, it seems it makes sense to combine the best of both programs...for example making the chord view in RB essentially BIAB with all its bells and whistles... and then the track view becomes the driving engine for RB....I think that would make everyone happy and an easier work flow...that's all I'm saying

I see your point. And hey, Dr. Peter Gannon might think about it, without making a standalone BIAB obsolete in the future.
That's all I'm sayin' (and hopin').
Cheers, Mike

I guess, if RealBand would be integrated into Biab as a window for instance, you would have a timeline sequencer right in BIAB. This means you could first let BIAB compose more than 7 MIDI tracks to 16 MIDI tracks and also have maybe 16 Audiotracks beside the MIDI tracks.
there would not be a problem with using different DAWs, as BIAB could stay a plugin.
I think it would be a very good idea to do so. in a sequencer arranger you could freeze bars and notes, that do not have to be regenerated. and you could arrange loops and tracks better. this would make BIAB more flexible. you could also combine 3rd party loops and MIDI-tracks better, which would be a great feature for electronical and classic music. especially you could in many auditracks record a group of singers and for each singer in a different track, for chorals for example or for duetts.
Also there would be the ability to have a better mixer and plugin panel for the audiotracks right within BIAB.
there would never be a reason to convert tracks to another DAW, because you could do everything right in BIAB.
I could imagine also an automatic audiotrack composer out of samples in BIAB with automatic pitch-shift and tempo-adjustment, like it is in Magix Music Maker. should not be too hard to do the code for that.
For now, BIAB is just nearly only for POP/ROCK and JAZZ MUSIC, this new ability would also open the software to vocal music, electronic mixing and classical music. I would be very happy, if you do these new features in a newer version.

While I do not have a problem with a marriage of these two programs, there is no real need to do this at the very moment in my opinion.
What I would like instead is 1. to have the two programs to approach each other in look and feel. Working with BIAB and switching over to RB to finish a song starts with searching the important buttons to play and stop a song, for example.
2. to empower RB to only import one user-selected track of BIAB at a time. Sometimes I modify the chords of a tune for one instrument only. I know all are generated, but I freeze that instrument and import it into the song in RB and delete all other duplicate BIAB tracks.
Over time the different parts of the two programs with similar features will probably result in a single program with the combined abilities of BIAB and RB without alienating the users of different DAWs.
