I imported a MIDI file and the music looks right in Notation Mode, but when I switch to Lead Sheet mode the Bass Clef is on top and the Treble clef is on the bottom.
Anyone know what's going on or how I can reverse this and put the treble clef on top and the bass clef on the bottom, there they belong?

Hi Woody,
When in Lead Sheet Mode, click on the "Opt" button that's to the left of the "Print" button. Once the options open, on the left upper corner there are some options for displaying clefs. "AutoSet Clefs" is the default. When this is deactivated, it's possible to choose to display bass and treble independently.
I'm not sure whether this will or will not help but it's worth a try.
Regards, Noel

Thank you for responding Noel,
I see the check boxes and I have unchecked AutoSet Clefs. This indeed allows me to check or uncheck treble and bass clef, but no matter how their checked, it has no effect on the screen I see in Lead Sheet Mode. Am I missing something?

Poorly made MIDI file is the most likely reason, Woody.
You could try opening said MIDI file in RealBand, which would yield a track by track of what's going on.
Likely better to just go find another MIDI file. Those free downloadable MIDI files are worth what you paid for 'em. Not all were made with notation in mind, many were made by people who can't even read music. A lot of 'em were made by someone simply playing while recording to MIDI on a keyboard, you'll find lots that are in another key other than the default MIDI key of C but the creator just played whatever key they knew without bothering to set the Key in their sequencer, which can yield notation with all sorts of wondrous accidentals.

The file came from Jazz Piano Master Classes - Volume 1. The Treble clef and the Bass clef are written correctly it's just that, in Lead sheet mode, the Bass clef shows on top and the treble clef on the bottom.
I am importing the file into Band in a Box because the Master Class software is not sophisticated enough to allow me to play along with it without latency problems. It does not support ASIO drivers and as a result, when I try to play along with it, things are way off. I picked up the program at your suggestion and I think it is probably really good for what I want to do, but that is the problem
The work around is to import the MIDI file into Band in a Box and Play along there. I don't have latency problems in Band in a Box. However, the only real reason I would want to see it in Lead Sheet mode is so I can print it. The thought occurs to me that I can print it from within Master-Class, so maybe it's a moot point.

Well, since both programs come from pgmusic, perhaps communicating directly with pgmusic support could shed some light here.
On the other hand, you may want to shop around for a hardware MIDI synth solution, perhaps a keyboard with its own MIDI sounds built in, or a separate unit. Don't have to buy brand new here, plenty of stuff makes Piano sound good enough for practice purposes. Hardware MIDI synth = zero latency. And, the added advantage of being able to play with computer off sometimes. or on a gig.

I'll think about that. Thank you for responding. One other thing you may or may know the answer to. When I bring the file into Band in a box it plays alright but it does not read exactly the same as in Master Class. Please see the attached screen shot. Please note, the two screen shots are the same music, but I had it in one key in Master Class and in another in BB, but you'll get the idea. [image]URL=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/855/20130114142449.jpg/] [/URL] Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/image] I'm hoping that perhaps it's some simple setting in BB that if changed will make a difference. P.S. When we spoke the other day I did not get email address

Please not, the screen shot above shows the music from Master Class in one key and the stuff in BB in another, but you'll get the idea. The first rest in the original is a 8th rest, in BB it is a dotted 8th. I prefer the simpler version.

Looks to me like BiaB is one octave below the intended note area. That could have happened simply due to using a keyboard that had a different MIDI note number designated as Middle C.
Try Notation Options->Transpose and enter +12 there.

As far as the timing of the eighth rest versus dotted eighth rest, take a look in your Play Menu, Slide Tracks. See what it says for Piano, and experiment.
