Just fired up computer, and opened RB opened a song file and now for the last 4 minutes it is just sitting there with the CPU Meter reading red 100% and on and on, and on, and on!

Seems it lost it's ASIO drivers. Dratted Tascam interface, nothing but trouble. Now the bigger issues is my M-Audio card is on the fritz!!!!

That don't sound normal.

Do you let RB 'settle in' before starting to click on stuff.

Here, RB loads, and the screen displays, but the CPU window shows red for a few seconds stll.
If I wait those few seconds until it settles down to low again, then start clicking, everything is cool.
If I start clicking on stuff while RB is actually still loading and the CPU is spiked, its possible to make it take longer to settle in.

I've never seen 4 minutes, but I have noticed that behavior. Been there for a couple versions here though.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

I have found the same, that it's not a good idea to start clicking too soon after starting RB up until things settle down. The RB startup issues do seem worse though with 2013 for some reason. Mine has been crashing often on startup, and sometimes I have to it force down and start back up 3 or 4 times until it takes hold.

I think startup issues are one of the things that frustrate many new users right off the bat and discourages them from learning/using RB. It might be helpful if RB flashed some notifications as to what it is doing during it's startup sequence so that users realize it is not yet done loading and settling in.

Yes, the RB setup sequence is lengthy because it appears to go through various stages. Firstly, it opens as PTW with the "Thru" setting at 1000 bars, changes to the RB setting of 1 bar, then starts looking for the last folder/file used. Depending on the style setting, RB will then look to open the connection with BIAB. All the while this is going on RB shows no progress meter. If you try to push then you get the "RB Not Responding" message followed in some cases by the display graying out. If left alone, then the Display recovers.

In order to speed the process, I have designated a common Style to be set in each seq file where access to the BIAB functions is no longer required - includes $Options.seq. This means that the connection is made when I require it not automatically. (I have requested at various times for an option to be provided in Preferences to control this connection). I have changed the Preferences to find the last Folder on Start up but not to load the last file being used. This latter provision doesn't save time just marks a stage in the load process. It is however extremely useful when a session is interrupted by a Program Violation which results in a sticky corrupted seq file that refuses to be cleared and continues to reload on RB startup. I have had a number of these problems with 2013.

I called support today, and did a complete re-install. 1 1/2 hours and guess what pops on file loading, and still no joy on fiddle RTs 2013 is buggy for me so far.

Solved the loud pop on loading a file. It was the sequence of start up on the system. With the Tascam US-800 you have to allow the computer to completely load up before powering up or the drivers go wonky. So i attached the computer to a different power source, and allow full boot to take place then switch on the power strip with the TAscam on it. No loud pops.

The lengthy load is there, the realband crashing is still there, and the RT generation is less that perfect. The later might be a bad song file.

It must be time for 64 bit versions of BB & RB.
