With BB & RB 2013 I cannot keep the audio face interface driver (ASIO) in place. When I attempt to change from MME to ASIO I get an error message "GetChannels failed"

Everything was stable until I loaded 2013 (had 2012.5). I keep loading the FocusRite USB driver and it reports success, but then RB or BB kills it.

Any ideas?

Problem solved by PGMusic tech support. I have Windows 7.

I was instructed to go into Control Panel / System and Security / Action Center / Change User Account Settings - lower the slider to the bottom. Then reboot.

Next, go into Control Panel / Hardware & Sound / Sound / Manage Audio Devices - select for Playback and Recording tabs, the native sound card and microphone, not the connected USB audio interface.

Open BB or RB and change audio driver from MME to ASIO.

This worked fine for me. Thx supportman.

I have since had further problems and have had to reload the driver over and over again. Tech support says BIAB doesn't necessarily support my audio interface, the Saphire 2i2, so before you buy an audio interface I would check with tech support.

It should work. Make sure that you have the Focusrite set at 16 bit 44.1 KHz. The specs for the Saphire 212 boast 24 bit 96 KHz and that may be how the unit comes stock. I don’t know for sure as I don’t have one but if you haven’t lowered it to 16 bit 44.1 KHz give it a try.

If that doesn’t work my guess would be that the drivers are not stable in Win 7 so keep an eye out for new Focusrite drivers.

Ah, I have found the secret. While all the steps above are necessary, if you forget to power down the audio interface (i.e. pull the USB chord out) and power it back up again you will be a long, long time getting this ASIO driver to 'take.'

So to repeat,

In Windows, go to Control Panel / System and Security / Action Center / Change User Account Settings - lower the slider to the bottom. Then reboot both the computer and the audio interface (pull the plug and re-insert).

Next, go into Control Panel / Hardware & Sound / Sound / Manage Audio Devices - select for Playback and Recording tabs, the native sound card and microphone, not the connected USB audio interface.

Open BB or RB and change audio driver from MME to ASIO.

You may also have to reload the driver, but probably not.

I have the same problem with 2013- most everytime I edit something in BIAB and RB,I use a Lamda Interface. I didn't have this problem with 2012. Ed

Last week I bought a Steinberg UR22 Usb audiointerface.
Realband Asio causes troubles.
MY realband is 2013, I always used an Esi 1010 asio interface. This week I changed to the Steinberg UR22 interface and I get an accessviolation at adress 004B7C26 in module Realband.exe. Cakewalk and my other audoapps work fine with asio. But Realband stops when I choose asio.. MME works fine, but I ‘d like top have the input monitoring of the asi driver.

This sounds not unlike the TASCAM US-800 issues that folks have with Win7. In order for Windows 7 (doesn't matter the application) to 'see' the interface, you have to power it on AFTER Windows 7 gets through boot. Then Win7 recognizes the interface and it will switch over to that as the default interface for any application using audio, if you've set it as the default interface. Then things are fairly happy.

There's no proper power switch on the unit and it does require a wall-wart, so I've bought a power strip to use as the power source. I've almost trained my brain to remember to power it off when I'm done, but not quite yet!

So, I'm wondering if you might have similar luck if you follow this sequence:

1. All power is off, PC and interface
2. Power up PC, allow Win7 to boot fully
3. Switch on the Focusrite by plugging in the USB cable
4. Start up BIAB (after you had left it using ASIO for the Focusrite in a previous use)

You might find that you have to do this for each of the USB ports that you might plug in the Focusrite - that is the case with the TASCAM US-800. It needs to get the driver associated with each USB port in some fashion. Also assuming you are not using the Focusrite through a USB hub - that can cause issues as well no matter what the USB audio interface is.
