There was a forum post by a member about 6 months ago. He mentioned that he took up playing jazz piano in his 50's. He was really great. I can't find his post and don't recall his name. Perhaps if anyone recalls that, they could point to his original post. That would be a good post to add to this forum...

Thanks for the reply. That's not the guy though.. the guy I'm referring to had youtube posts to some songs that he played on, which were all jazz standards. He had mentioned that he just started playing in his 50's, which is why I thought of his posts as being helpful in this forum.

Could it be a guy named George Tingley? He posted some smooth cocktail BB piano jazz covers of standards, which I downloaded. (Ipanema, Just Friends, etc.)

But it looks like it was over two years ago (my files date from Jan, 2011), and I turn up nothing on the search of archives... but of course they only go back two years. Until you upgrade the forum software... hehe.

(Edit) No, probably not the guy... Google tells me Tingley started the piano at age four.

I think his name is Ken. I found his website via a contribution he made to the User submittals -"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" .
His accomplishments are humbling to us less talented.

Yes, that was it John thanks. Nice blog site, by a guy who is learning to play jazz piano from scratch, starting in his 50's. good inspiration for others planning something similar.
